These Blue & Gold Macaws were quite a pair and very devoted to one another.

Captured whilst preening in the beautiful evening light that cast shadows from the lakeside reeds in the shallows.
This limpkin had been feeding on apple snails with several other limpkins when it decided to take a break It was late in the day and time for cleaning. The visibility of individual feathers in the evening sun impressed us so we took a pic.
Taken in the Rich Grissom Memorial Wetlands at Viera, Florida.
A Rufous Hummingbird preening after a light rain. She has to keep her feathers in tip top shape to chase the other Hummingbirds in our backyard. Photo taken in Camas, Washington.
This one somehow folks was one of the prettiest one's I've seen, and his mate was also very beautiful, it's just that he was a little bit more photogenic.
Number three in my colorful bird series is this preening Roseate Spoonbill. The fluffed feathers maximize our view of its many shades of pink and the bit of amber at the base of its neck. No color enhancement in processing. Just cropping and light adjustments.
The supporting cast in the background are Redhead ducks...three males and a female.

An interesting pose from this Robin who was grooming his feathers likely in the hopes of attracting a mate.
Thanks for viewing and happy Thursday!!
Yes a take-off of Pretty in Pink - a classic.
From Audubon - "Gorgeous at a distance and bizarre up close is the Roseate Spoonbill.
I'd say "Gorgeous at a distance and stunningly beautiful up close".
Almost a Renoir bathers scene.
I have to remind myself that some birds weren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knew it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But your world is just that much colder and emptier when they're gone. I don't know... maybe I just miss my friend.

Visiting Atascadero Lake mid morning I spotted this group of American White Pelicans happy to be preening together at the edge of the water.
This folks will end this Red Head series, although there are so many more really nice images, but I think it's enough for now anyways, we'll see in the future.
Wishing everyone a great day and a safe one, and thanking everyone dot the visits, comments and faves, very much appreciated.
