As Wind carries our prayers for Earth and All Life, may respect and love light our way.

May our hearts be filled with compassion for others and for ourselves.

May peace increase on Earth.

May it begin with me.

Yay made it to the explore =)

My heart aches for everyone whose lives have been turned upside down by the devastating fires ravaging California. The images and stories are heartbreaking, and I am sending all my thoughts and prayers to those who have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and their sense of security. I pray for the swift and safe return of all those who have been displaced. I especially pray for the brave first responders, the firefighters, paramedics, and volunteers, who are tirelessly working to contain the flames and rescue those in danger. May God grant them strength, protection, and guidance in their heroic efforts. Above all, I pray that God's comfort and presence be especially near to those directly affected, offering solace in their time of need. 🙏

These colorful prayer flags are strewn upon Tibetan monasteries, mountaintops, and other spiritual places of power. The flags are inscribed with prayer and scripture. Their messages are carried to the heavens by the wind horse as the flags blow in the breeze.

These Prayer Wheels are a few of many to be found at the Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple) in Kathmandu. They must be rotated clockwise and each turn sends the prayer to the Buddha.

Traditionally, the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum is written in Newari language of Nepal.

The Asr prayer in a mosque

A man offering prayers at Jama Masjid. I like the way the pale daylight slips under the arch and shines on the marble flooring.

A visitor to the chapel gives an offering and then kneels in prayer at the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe, New Mexico. 210831.

"In order to receive what God gives us and to make it bear abundant fruit, we need to press beyond the boundaries of the visible Church in two ways. In the first place, by uniting ourselves in prayer with the Church in heaven. The prayers of the Church on earth establish a communion of mutual service and goodness which reaches up into the sight of God. Together with the saints who have found their fulfilment in God, we form part of that communion in which indifference is conquered by love. The Church in heaven is not triumphant because she has turned her back on the sufferings of the world and rejoices in splendid isolation. Rather, the saints already joyfully contemplate the fact that, through Jesus’ death and resurrection, they have triumphed once and for all over indifference, hardness of heart and hatred. Until this victory of love penetrates the whole world, the saints continue to accompany us on our pilgrim way. Saint Therese of Lisieux, a Doctor of the Church, expressed her conviction that the joy in heaven for the victory of crucified love remains incomplete as long as there is still a single man or woman on earth who suffers and cries out in pain: “I trust fully that I shall not remain idle in heaven; my desire is to continue to work for the Church and for souls” (Letter 254, July 14, 1897)".

Candles burn as signs of prayer near the Lourdes grotto.

Is it over the pollen, or the small bug?

The last day in Bhutan, after a pleasant drive north of Paro we reached the old Dzong. This fortified castle and monastery in now in ruins but its location is amazing. That sunny day we could see the peaks above 6800m surrounding the valley.

While coming back to the village beside the Dzong, I stopped to rest and admire the view above the rice paddies from a kind of stupa. There was two old women, chatting and praying. One was trying to rotate the prayer wheels located bellow the roof above us. I guessed it was not a standard procedure as some kind of propeller indicate these were supposed to turn only by the force of wind. She was obviously too short and was unsuccessfully pushing the blades of the prayer wheels. I decided to give her a hand for few wheels.

Then she started to talk to me like if it was obvious that I understand her language. Of course I didn't understand anything but it was still a pleasant "conversation" as we were both smiling a lot ! With some body language she accepted my proposition of a portrait, here is the result.

For those who like details, I recommend to see this photograph in large, this is why I love film and 6x7 !

Today's Eid Prayers in Badshahi Masjid, Lahore

One of my entries for the Photography competition in Holy Trinity Church.

Used a bare manual flash.... And how do i say that the flash was placed in front of the subject and on the right side, that can sound "storbist"? :P

My Dad has been in the hospital going on three weeks now. He called me this afternoon and said that they told him he has prostate cancer and possibly colon cancer. Please, please, please keep him in your prayers. Outside of my hubby, my father is my rock. He means the world to me. He has never ever been sick and has never been in the hospital before now. :( I'm not even sure what to think. Just please remember him. I guess it may be weird to ask for prayers on here, but some of you guys are such good buddies and I just felt the need to share this with you.

Oh, and in this photo he's showing me a commissioned painting that he's working on. I'm always fascinated with how his paintings look so real.

You can see some more of his work Here and Here and Here.

सर्व धर्म प्रार्थनास्थल..... A prayer hall regardless of religious affiliation beside Gurudongmar Lake, maintained by the Indian military

Prayer flags are said to bring luck, happiness, long life and prosperity to the flag planter and those in the vicinity in practice of Tibetan Buddhism.

Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest fresh-water lakes in the world, located in a high plateau area connected with the Tibetan Plateau, at an altitude of 17,100 ft (5,210 m), and remains frozen throughout the year.

The lake is considered one of the most sacred lakes by the Buddhist and Hindus. The lake is named after Guru Padmasambhava who had brought Tantric Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century.

North Sikkim, India

Har Ki Pauri (Steps of Lord Shiva), the sacred Ghat was constructed by King Vikramaditya (1st century BC). The most sacred ghat within Har Ki Pauri is Brahmakund.

The evening prayer (Aarti) at dusk offered to Goddess Ganga at Har Ki Pauri is an enchanting experience. A spectacle of sound and colour is seen when, after the ceremony, pilgrims float Diyas (floral floats with lamps) and incense on the river, commemorating their deceased ancestors. Thousands of people from all around the world do make a point to attend this prayer on their visit to Haridwar.

Haridwar (also spelled Hardwar) is an ancient city in Uttarakhand, India and regarded as one of the seven holiest places to Hindus.

Prayer wheels seen commonly all over Sikkim.. They have prayers written on them and the Buddhists believe that spinning them leads to the purification of our souls.. The colours look so beautiful !

St. Patrick's Cathedral, Pune, India

These Tibetan Prayer Flags were located on a mountain ridge just above the Mahakala cave where Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) meditated. It is in this cave that he realized that fasting and mortifying the flesh would not bring him enlightenment or divine knowledge. This cave is located 12 km from the main town of Bodh Gaya where Siddartha later became enlightened under the Bodhi Tree.

The flags were put up by Tibetan monks from a nearby Monastery. After sharing some tea with me, they encouraged me to climb up the mountain and see the flags they had just hung.

The photo was taken with a Leica M8 using a 28mm ASPH Summicron at F2 with a 1/6000 sec shutter speed.

Prayer Flags are left up until the flag has worn away and the prayer taken away by the wind.
