Medical Friendly Shelter Full Scale Exercise 2018
The City held a full-scale exercise of the Medically Friendly Shelter (MFS) designed to establish a learning environment for participants to exercise their MFS operational plans.
The exercise served as a practical walk through of planning, operational coordination, operational communication, logistics and supply chain management, public health, healthcare, and emergency medical services
The MFS is only activated for a Category 2 or greater hurricane or as directed by the City Manager. The MFS is for people who, during periods of evacuation or emergency, require sheltering assistance due to physical, mental or cognitive impairment, or a sensory disability that exceeds the basic level of care provided at a general population shelter, but does not require the level of care provided at a skilled medical facility. This includes help with administering medication, personal hygiene assistance with activities of daily living (washing, dressing and eating).

Photography continues to feed me. Sometimes I wish I could think of something else or do something else in my spare time or any other time except photography. Seriously, even when I'm busy with other outlets I'm framing, composing and wondering what the final result of said person, thing or locale would be if I had the opportunity to shoot them. I've completely given up on my weekend household responsibilities. God knows when I'm going to get around to painting my bedroom, or purchase those new pillows for my living room, or locate an electrician to install those halogen lights... But in time I guess even those things will work themselves out. Until then I'll keep perfecting my craft with the hope one day I can feel less and less like the "novice photographer" I can't seem to shake...

Notice my DIY boom - I'm particularly proud of the counter-weight solution ;-)
Biggest challenge - focusing on the spot you're going to be stending in.
This guy was practicing sleight of hand and passes with his poker chips for as long as he was on the bus. It was impressive.
I didn't like my son's .45, it kicked too hard. But I do enjoy target practicing. I've gotten fairly accurate with my .22 pistol.
So here's how I practice with my new, and first, dslr camera. Bailey won't sit still for hours of practice, but this guy will. I finally had some success today with focusing the way I wanted. I'm feeling more hopeful!
