They practice in my basement and it always sounds real nice. Was testing the new 85mm f1.8 in very low light. I like it (focus is slightly off in one or two but it's ok.)

Medical Friendly Shelter Full Scale Exercise 2018

The City held a full-scale exercise of the Medically Friendly Shelter (MFS) designed to establish a learning environment for participants to exercise their MFS operational plans.

The exercise served as a practical walk through of planning, operational coordination, operational communication, logistics and supply chain management, public health, healthcare, and emergency medical services

The MFS is only activated for a Category 2 or greater hurricane or as directed by the City Manager. The MFS is for people who, during periods of evacuation or emergency, require sheltering assistance due to physical, mental or cognitive impairment, or a sensory disability that exceeds the basic level of care provided at a general population shelter, but does not require the level of care provided at a skilled medical facility. This includes help with administering medication, personal hygiene assistance with activities of daily living (washing, dressing and eating).

At the Guy Butler Theater. It was very cold with a storm outside.

I guess it's called "polishing" the skin. Not sure how much it will show up on a monitor and it's not for all portraits, but an impressive improvement in many cases. If you view large, you will see tremendous difference.

A practice Rondel Dagger I made for a friend on my homemade lathe.

After the main races were over a few cyclist took some practice laps. Check out that bank.

Practice block for the Threads Together Quilting Bee. B-woosh is looking for something like this, which is awesome. Using the freezer paper piecing technique described here, I tried out a practice block just to get an idea of what I was doing and how much fabric I'd need.

Scottish Practice Managers Development Network Annual Conference 5-6 June 2014

The practice and its flash-bangs made me jump as I was riding my bike on the other side of the river!

Woke up this morning for my once a week workout, but was still just a tad sick, so I didn't go.

Instead, I took Ayu out for some bokeh practice.

Stephen set my white balance, because the auto WB wasn't doing the trick. Also played with metering a little bit, though I got frustrated with trying to master off-center light metering and quit before I managed to figure out how to make my small hand keep the shutter button half-depressed while also moving the camera and finding the right focal point. Some days this whole photography venture feels entirely beyond me.

Practicing strainer avoidance stuff - and in this little tributary of the Birkenhead where the water definitely wasn't pumping - nobody who floated down and just wrapped around the log could muscle themselves over it...this particular conversation had something to do with a goat...

Easier to work on cos it doesnt try to run away!!

Our backyard. The spindly object on the left is not a nearby shrubbery, but instead a maple next to the garage.

Taken the night before a promised winter storm. Judging by the table on the back patio, our house had 11 3/4" of snowfall.

Tech. notes:

No exposure or color adjustment. This was done with a 30-second exposure with all house lights turned off.

I hadn't taken any waterfall shot in a long time so I went out to a couple of easy one -- just a few steps from parking lots - to keep my hand in.
