The MA Situated Practice is a pioneering programme which examines the fertile territory in which the discipline of architecture cross-pollinates with other creative arts. Students will make work that is situated physically and engages with contemporary social, cultural and political conditions.
This new 15-month Masters programme provides knowledge and training in the principles and skills of situated practice, in relation to the theoretical frameworks of art, architecture, performativity, urbanism and writing.
Situated practice is a key development in arts and humanities, where expertise comes not from a focus on a pre-defined discipline or subject (art, architecture or design, for example), but from a creative and critical position that operates across and beyond these categories.
Students will explore how practitioners from across the spatial disciplines have articulated their practice and begin to develop their own critical approach. This will culminate in a final Major Project in three stages: intervention, documentation and exhibition.

Went to Milan Dragway this weekend. This is just a quick practice shot for a later senior shoot with this girl. Sad the black on the car blends with the night so much, next time I'll shoot at sunset.

Up on Sand Flats east of Moab, we had just enough time after the drive to walk around the Slickrock Bike Trail's "Practice Loop".
Meant for beginning mountain bikers to get the feel of biking on slickrock, it was a fine reintroduction for us to get the feel of hiking on slickrock, too. And the scenery wasn't bad :^)

In the soft pink glow of her cozy bedroom, Amelia Rose stood with one foot in the air, arms stretched wide like a tiny, determined dancer. Her balance practice was in full swing, but her attention flickered between her pointed toes and the colorful word cards scattered across the floor like a paper mosaic. She had arranged them herself, carefully, each one a little window into a world of learning—brightly illustrated cards showing everything from a grinning frog to a shiny trumpet, a banana, a crab, a lion, and even a penguin wearing a bow tie.
She had picked out her outfit just for today—her big playdate with Artie. A pastel plaid romper from her favorite boutique, Minette, hugged her chubby little legs perfectly. The creamy straps were embroidered with delicate flowers, and she had declared it was “the cutest ever” the moment she saw it. Two neat little buns sat atop her head like puffs of cotton candy, framing her smiling face with an air of mischief and sunshine.
But the day wasn’t all play—at least not yet.
Caeleigh, her momma, sat nearby on the plush ottoman with a patient, knowing smile. She held one of the flashcards in her hand and tapped it lightly. “Before Artie comes over, sweetheart, you have to practice your word guessing game. Remember our deal?”
Amelia let out a dramatic sigh and dropped to her knees on the soft pink rug with exaggerated flair. “But Mommaaaa,” she moaned, “I already know them! That one’s a banana,” she said with flair, pointing to the yellow crescent on the card in front of her.
From the corner of the room, Apollo watched quietly. The massive wolf-dog, her loyal protector, lay half-tucked behind the striped pillow fort. His silver fur shimmered in the soft light, and his cool blue eyes followed Amelia's every move. He didn’t make a sound—he didn’t have to. He was always watching, always close, always ready. Just as he always had been since the day she brought him home.
Amelia pushed herself upright again and lifted one foot. “I can balance and learn, see?” she said proudly. Her arms flailed a little, but she held the pose, eyes darting between the cards. “That’s a hat… and a key… and a… umm… unicorn!” she declared, wobbling with a grin before collapsing in a giggling heap onto the rug.
Caeleigh laughed, shaking her head. “Well, I guess that counts as multitasking.”
The bedroom, filled with toys, soft pastels, and the soft scent of fresh flowers, buzzed with quiet excitement. Artie would be there soon. But for now, Amelia practiced—twirling, guessing, and giggling—under the watchful eyes of her momma and the steady gaze of her best furry friend, Apollo.
And though the word cards were just a game, this was how she learned: through love, through laughter, and through the little moments that made up their world.

This is the practice ground set up for the competitors at Lord's cricket ground during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
This image was taken in the break between the morning and afternoon sessions as we ate our lunch in the Warner Stand. The Grandstand can be seen on the left and on the right the temporary North Stand. At the far end the upper tier of the Compton Stand can just be seen. In between is the practice range for the archers. It was set up parallel to the actual shooting field so that the conditions would be as similar as possible to the actual competition.
This is a four shot stitched panorama of landscape orientation images.

My girl and her dad have been spending a lot of time together practicing. Practicing soccer, practicing kickball and practicing talking about life in general. They don't always get along these two. I think it might have to do with her hormones and his lack of understanding, but they are working on it. I have been watching them lately as they have been practicing and they are learning to know each other better. They are developing a bond and I love watching the two of them grow closer together. I guess it's like everything else. Relationships take practice and hard work, and that's exactly what they've been doing. After all, practice makes perfect!
More of their practice on the blog.http://www.savoringthesimple.com/2011/06/kickball.html

It's no small surgery, so I went through everything one more time today, step by step. Cut my shoulder open, rip out the scar tissue, tape stuff together, add filler, then caulk everything back up. Practice makes perfect and I can't afford to make stupid mistakes. I'll see everyone on the other side of the drug fantasies!
