As the sun get low in the sky, practices his rope skills outside a charreada arena. Today's events are over and he has seen many charros show their skills to their peers and audience. It will take time for Monte to learn his skills and reach age 12, before rules allow him to perform before an audience. Four hundred years of tradition are behind the competition known as Charreada, based on the working skills of cowhands, the charrada started as rural entertainment, and became the official sport of Mexico. Performed in a lienzo (arena), which is shaped like a keyhole, the charreda is composed of nine suertes (events). Unlike the rodeo competitor, the charro doesn't compete for prize money but rather for the honor of the sport. For over fifty years the San Antonio Charro Association, has been passing the love of the charreada from generation to generation. A member of the National Federation of Mexico, the Association is the oldest Charro Association in the United States.

In 13 years of watching college baseball, I have never seen this. Kentucky took batting practice in the batting cages and out on the field, they set up some machines that chucked balls out so the fielders could practice. They travel with this equipment. Look at those extension cords. What the heck is this.
Woke up this morning for my once a week workout, but was still just a tad sick, so I didn't go.
