...the quote I've attached to 2011/365/315:

"Pain is a relatively objective, physical phenomenon; suffering is our psychological resistance to what happens. Events may create physical pain, but they do not in themselves create suffering. Resistance creates suffering. Stress happens when your mind resists what is...The only problem in your life is your mind's resistance to life as it unfolds."

- Dan Millman Quotes from Way of the Peaceful Warrior -

philosophersnotes.com/quotes/by_topic/Perception - I notice I've gained quite a lot of practical knowledge related with 'life unfolding' since my post two years ago. At that time I still was very much gathering theoretical information of re-inventing yourself => re-inventing your work etc...

One word Tuesday: Inspirational , post it then Tag it with #TP721 - This is originally a photo I took during an evening walk in last July in Lauttasaari, Helsinki. I need an inspirational picture for next weekend's expressive art therapy campus learning - so I post-processed the photo a bit... both for this today's assignment and the assignments waiting during next weekend.

A new session of Pangaea geology field training moved to Lofoten, Norway, to scout for new traverses for the Pangaea analogue complement.

The team, consisting of planetary geologists and training experts, is preparing space farers for lunar exploration.

Lofoten shares many geological features with lunar highlands, such as the Apollo 16 landing site, making it a perfect site to train astronauts on lunar geology.

Pangaea instructors Matteo Massironi , Riccardo Pozzobon, and Fransceco Sauro, as well as petrology professor and local expert Kåre Kullerud are guiding ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer through interesting geological sites in the Nusfjord, an area containing primitive crust rock formations, including anorthosites, which are known to be typical lunar highland rocks.

The Pangaea course is designed to provide European astronauts with introductory and practical knowledge of Earth and planetary geology to prepare them to become effective partners of planetary scientists and engineers in designing the next exploration missions.

The course also aims to give astronauts a solid knowledge in the geology of the Solar System from leading European scientists.

Innocent of any practical knowledge of airships, American inventor John Morrell set out to make aviation history in Berkeley, California, on May 23, 1908. At noon, Morrell, three photographers and a 16-man crew clambered on board the walkway lashed below an airship shaped like a giant sausage and started its five automobile engines. Significantly, the man in charge of constructing the airship refused to join them.

The launch was uneven, some line handlers letting go before others. The single-celled airship - much too long for its own strength - staggered crookedly to an altitude of 300 feet. The gas rushed to one end with such great pressure that the envelope burst, and as it fell, men, engines and propellers were dumped into the watching crowd. Broken bones were abundant but, miraculously, no one was killed.

Speaking of the collaboration with musician and composer Jason Roebke since 1998, what I have been working on was adopting and trying to understand his philosophy behind his performance. It becomes the learning process of the other's learning history to be an artist and why he is creating the work he does right now. Jason shared with me abundant amount of practical knowledge, on the job skill, and how to think and improve the creative thinking as a collaborator. Through the collaboration, which includes rehearsals and discussions, we exchanged the differences and similarities between sound and movement as an equal components of what we create. As a result, we have been able to keep generating genuine and honest pieces of work together.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 5, 2011 -- DRA Federal Co-Chairman Chris Masingill announced today that Southeast Missouri State University’s Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and ACCION Texas, Inc. are partnering to develop ACCION Delta, which will provide microlending services to the 252 counties and parishes of the federally designated Delta Regional Authority. ACCION Delta’s regional office will be located at the Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) in Cape Girardeau.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the Delta economy,” said DRA Federal Co-Chairman Chris Masingill. “While these loans may be small, they can make a major difference in the success of a small business. Now, more than ever, we need to be doing everything we can to make sure our mom and pop shops have the resources they need to grow their business and create good-paying jobs.”

As an extension of ACCION Texas Inc., a 501(c)(3) microfinance company, ACCION Delta is committed to empowering diverse individuals, assisting entrepreneurs and small businesses gain access to capital and the practical knowledge to operate a business.

Established in 1994 in San Antonio, ACCION Texas (ATX) is a nonprofit microlender and small business lender. Its services help Texas and Louisiana entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses, stabilize and increase their incomes, create employment and contribute to the economic revitalization of their communities.

“We are pleased to partner with great technical assistance providers like the Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Operation JumpStart program that provides much needed training for small businesses,” said Janie Barrera, president and CEO of ACCION Texas Inc. “What the Delta lacked was access to a credit provider like ACCION Texas.”

The collaboration between ATX and CIE brings together the nation’s largest microlender with one of the nation’s most successful rural microenterprise development programs. Since 2006, the CIE's Operation JumpStart program has trained over 750 aspiring entrepreneurs that have started nearly 250 new businesses that are sustaining at over 90%.

Based on the success of Operation JumpStart, the CIE was the only recipient in the United States to receive two grants from the U.S. Small Business Administration to build microenterprise development capacity. The CIE is collaborating with the Delta Regional Authority to build a network of Operation JumpStart programs throughout the lower Mississippi Delta region. Organizations are completing certification training and will begin training and mentoring hundreds of aspiring entrepreneurs and existing small business owners soon. With the development of ACCION Delta, they will have access to the capital they need.

“I am thrilled to partner with ACCION to deliver high-quality business training and services, and capital to entrepreneurs throughout southeast Missouri and the Mississippi Delta region,” stated Dr. James Stapleton, executive director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and assistant professor of management at Southeast. “Their expertise in providing loans to individuals who do not have access to traditional funding sources combined with the expansion of our successful Operation JumpStart program will lead to the startup and expansion of hundreds of businesses in our region. It’s these kinds of regional collaborations supported by the Delta Regional Authority that will lead to significant improvement in quality of lives, businesses and communities throughout our region.”

🇬🇧 RESONANCE STONEWORK

A minimal model for how “impossible” megaliths were shaped and moved

(EN-99 | Research Draft v1.0)

1. Starting point: the problem nobody solves honestly

Across multiple sites – Giza, Aswan, Sacsayhuamán, Puma Punku, Coricancha, Ollantaytambo – we see three recurring facts:

Blocks of extreme mass

– tens to hundreds of tons, sometimes placed high above ground;

Geometries that exceed hammer-and-chisel logic

– compound curvature, seamless polygonal fits, “buttery” radii;

Absence or insufficiency of classical tool signatures

– either no percussion marks where they should be, or marks only on later surfaces.

The official narrative:

“They did it with brute force, ramps, and stone hammers.”

The empirical problem:

In many key locations, the geometry and material evidence do not match such a process.

This report proposes the minimal additional assumption that makes the evidence coherent:

Resonance (controlled vibration/energy fields) was used to change the state of stone and reduce effective weight.

Not magic. Physics.

2. Constraint 1 – Stone tells us it was softened

At several major sites we see signs that, at some stage, the rock behaved plastically rather than brittle.

2.1. Vitrification and thermal signatures

On selected blocks (e.g. Sacsayhuamán, Coricancha) we observe:

thin vitrified surface layers – fused, glassy skin;

rounded micro-edges, not broken ones;

mineral boundary changes consistent with high temperature + rapid cooling;

absence of typical abrasion patterns from chisels across those surfaces.

These are process signatures, not aesthetics.

They imply:

The outer millimetres of stone reached temperatures and stress states

where it flowed or reconfigured rather than chipped.

2.2. High-order curvature without impact scars

On selected “pillow” blocks and interlocking faces:

surfaces are continuously curved in 3D (convex → concave blends),

no step-faceting, no percussion pits, no conchoidal fracturing,

fits between blocks are continuous contact, not point contact.

You cannot achieve such surfaces in hard igneous/very dense rock with:

hand hammers,

short chisels,

and human-level positional accuracy,

without leaving a chaotic field of micro-scars.

Here, we do not see those scars on the primary fit surfaces.

The simplest reading:

At least during the final fitting stage, the material did not behave as dry, brittle stone.

3. Constraint 2 – Logistics say: brute force is not enough

A few canonical examples:

Aswan “Unfinished Obelisk” (~1200 tons):

carved in a narrow trench where:

a human cannot swing a hammer with full force along the whole length,

debris removal and ventilation are near-impossible,

yet walls and floor show regular, smooth grooves, not chaotic impact zones.

King’s Chamber beams in the Great Pyramid (~50–70 tons each):

placed ~40–60 m above ground,

in a boxed-in interior,

with no internal ramps or lifting towers preserved,

and no convincing full-scale experimental replication under Bronze Age constraints.

Polygonal cyclopean blocks in the Andes:

multi-ton blocks interlocked with several neighbours at once,

in 3D curvature,

with tolerances that demand millimetric alignment in multiple axes.

To maintain the standard model, we must assume:

continuous heavy lifting in constrained spaces,

with low-tech levers and ropes,

at a precision modern cranes struggle to match,

without leaving plausible ramp / scaffolding / anchor traces in many key spots.

This is physically possible on paper – but increasingly improbable once you account for ergonomics, error propagation, and real material behaviour.

4. Constraint 3 – The geometry keeps pointing to resonant devices

Two classes of artifacts link directly to controlled vibration / resonance:

4.1. Resonant chambers and “acoustic architecture”

Throughout the ancient world:

narrow, high stone rooms with strong standing-wave behaviour;

corridors and chambers tuned to specific formants (measurable today);

“niches” and “boxes” whose dimensions correspond to clean acoustic modes.

These are not random.

They show intentional tuning of space to frequency.

4.2. Resonant machine-like objects (e.g. Sabu Disc)

The Sabu Disc / Saqqara Disc is a key example:

brittle schist, shaped into thin, cantilevered blades;

three-winged rotor-like geometry with central hub;

continuous 3D curvature, coaxial symmetry, and blade profiles consistent with flow control, not storage;

one-of-one: no typological family of “similar bowls”.

The most conservative technical reading:

This is a flow / resonance component, not a container.

A part of something, not a standalone ornament.

Taken together, these data classes suggest:

knowledge of resonance,

practical exploitation of vibration and standing waves,

use of geometry as a control interface for energy flow.

5. Minimal Resonance Model

We do not need to know the full technology to sketch a minimal working model:

5.1. Phase 1 – Local softening (cutting & shaping)

Hypothesis:

Targeted resonance (acoustic, EM, or hybrid) excites specific modes in the stone’s microstructure, effectively lowering its yield strength in a controlled volume.

Practical effects (modern analogues exist on small scale):

ultrasonic drilling and cutting,

acoustic-assisted machining,

microwave and induction heating in selected zones.

Applied macroscopically:

stone behaves like semi-plastic material in the energized region,

can be deformed / moulded / “poured" against a template or a neighbouring stone.

This explains:

butter-smooth 3D fits,

local vitrification,

absence of impact scars on key surfaces.

5.2. Phase 2 – Friction reduction & pseudo-levitation (transport)

Hypothesis:

Resonant excitation reduces effective friction and/or creates a thin vibro-fluidised interface between block and substrate.

Again, modern analogues:

acoustic levitation and “hover” transport of small objects,

vibratory conveyors,

maglev-like effective friction reduction (different physics, same outcome).

Macroscopic consequences:

multi-ton block can be slid / guided with radically less force,

precise placement is achievable with human-scale teams once static friction is neutralized.

This helps resolve:

how blocks are manoeuvred in tight quarters,

why we lack massive ramp systems for every operation,

how multi-directional, compound fits are achieved without endless trial-and-error.

5.3. Phase 3 – Lock-in and hardening

After shaping and placement:

resonance ceases,

stone returns to its normal high-strength state,

vitrified skin acts as a “frozen” memory of the process.

The structure now appears impossibly perfect for hammer-and-chisel work –

because it was never created by hammer-and-chisel in the first place.

6. Falsifiable predictions of the Resonance Stonework model

A good hypothesis must be testable.

This model predicts:

Microstructural anomalies in “mystery” surfaces

– reoriented grain boundaries, partial melting, and annealing patterns not explainable by weathering or simple fire.

Localized, not global, thermal signatures

– evidence of high energy input confined to contact zones and interfaces, not across whole blocks.

Frequency-friendly geometries

– recurring use of proportions and shapes that correspond to clean harmonic ratios and acoustic modes.

Absence of proportional tool wear traces

– where conventional tools are claimed, observable wear patterns and debris volumes should match. In many key examples, they do not.

These predictions can be checked with:

petrographic thin sections,

SEM/TEM micro-imaging,

resonance scanning (acoustic, EM),

experimental archaeology with scaled resonance tools.

7. What this model is not saying

To be absolutely clear:

It does not claim “aliens built everything.”

It does not deny human ingenuity, labour, or local tradition.

It does not require a magical new physics.

It simply states:

In specific, well-documented cases, the most coherent explanation for the observed geometry, microstructure and logistics is controlled energy/ resonance applied to stone, not brute-force percussion alone.

This leaves plenty of room for:

unknown human cultures,

lost high-tech traditions,

and gradual, uneven development – not a single global “super-civilization”.

8. Summary (for those who read only the last paragraph)

Some ancient stonework shows signatures of plastic behaviour and vitrification, incompatible with pure hammer-and-chisel methods.

Logistics of cutting, lifting and fitting multi-ton blocks in confined spaces push classical ramp / lever models beyond realistic ergonomics.

Resonant geometries and machine-like artifacts (e.g. Sabu Disc) strongly suggest practical knowledge of controlled vibration.

A minimal resonance model – soften → move → lock – explains all three problem classes with one additional assumption, grounded in known physics.

We don’t have all the answers.

But the stone is clear on one thing:

It does not remember only the chisel.

It remembers fields, frequencies and forms.

Our job now is simple and hard at once:

to read that memory without fear, dogma, or premature certainty.

Alchemical treatises. Manuscript: England, late Fourteenth Century. MS Hunter 110 (T.5.12): Page with illustrations of alembics and furnaces (folio 28r)

The craft of alchemy developed significantly in the Thirteenth Century and it is consequently the subject matter of a large number of surviving late medieval manuscripts. This literature incorporates a spectrum of works, ranging from those dealing with technical metallurgical matters to those couched in mystical language concerning the transmutation of base metals into gold. This manuscript is a compendium of texts. Included are works by the thirteenth century Dominican scholar Albertus Magnus, William de Furnivall’s On the Sublimation of Arsenic, a copy of the Mappae Clavicula, a dictionary of alchemical terms, and anonymous treatises on salt and divination. The opening displayed to the left is from Albertus Magnus’s Straight Path in the Art of Alchemy. It is illustrated with simple diagrams of furnaces, used to ‘sublime’ or distil various substances. The illustrations in alchemical works are often unsophisticated, but nonetheless essential in books that were intended to be used in intensely practical ways.

The first part of Chaucer’s Canon’s Yeoman’s Tale provides a fascinating account of the workings of an alchemist’s laboratory with its unending and elusive experimentation. Although Chaucer refers to the craft as a ‘slidynge science’, he takes great delight in listing the strange names of the chemicals and processes, and obviously had some practical knowledge of chemistry.

It’s a part of technical training on aluminum manufacturing products and many young people take part in this training to gather a considerable amount of practical knowledge & experience. By participating in this training, they become familiar with the day-to-day issues of an aluminum plant, as well as understand the most common problems, which makes them skilled workforces. Freshers gain in-depth knowledge and participate in making a difference. After training, they join reputed aluminum manufacturing companies and contribute to the country’s economy.

The course also aims to give astronauts a solid knowledge in the geology of the Solar System from leading European scientists.

my grandmother ... my hope ....

About the photograph :

My grandmother’s story is perhaps the story of thousands of Indian women even today.Born before independence , though from a small village she has a wider lens of seeing this world ... mother of 7 children's itself gives some kind of responsibility ... you speak about the power of india ... she is still just the power house of our home as that of mitochondria is for a cell ... I look around, among the middle and upper educated classes in India, and see my grandmother’s story repeating over and over again, even today!! though having lot of interest in studies she could manage them only till std. 7th ....but speaking about the 85 years of practical knowledge empowers her strength ... the only reason i want to share her photo in this context is to show that ... her presence gives power to one and all in our family ....so its the story of my grandmother like her there are manier of our elders who constitute the power of each house ... powering india ....

Dr. Harvey W. Wiley conducting experiments in his laboratory in the Department of Agriculture (two assistants unidentified)

Harvey Washington Wiley (October 30, 1844, Kent, Indiana - June 30, 1930, Washington, D.C.) was a noted chemist involved with the passage of the landmark Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906. Wiley was offered the position of Chief Chemist in the United States Department of Agriculture by George Loring, the Commissioner of Agriculture, in 1882. Wiley brought with him to Washington a practical knowledge of agriculture, a sympathetic approach to the problems of agricultural industry and an untapped talent for public relations. After assisting Congress in their earliest questions regarding the safety of the chemical preservatives then being employed in foods. These famous "poison squad" studies drew national attention to the need for a federal food and drug law. Wiley soon became a crusader and coalition builder in support of national food and drug regulation which earned him the title of "Father of the Pure Food and Drugs Act" when it became law in 1906. In 1912, Wiley resigned and took over the laboratories of Good Housekeeping magazine where he established the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval and worked tirelessly on behalf of the consuming public.

Alchemical treatises. Manuscript: England, late Fourteenth Century. MS Hunter 110 (T.5.12): Illustrated page from Albertus Magnus' The Secret of Philosophers (folio 62r)
