Infill housing projects work with severe constraints. To make it affordable, design solutions are often messy, ugly but always pragmatic and practical.
Usually they increase density that reduces the land costs and at the same time intessify the use of land, an urban plus. Parking is a stringent requirement and a design challenge. Faced with a 12 or 14 foot wide bay, the options are limited.
The solution is simple, whether judged as ugly or beautiful, but always good urbanism.

So I had time to kill today, and that time was spent in the library. The majority of the time I was reading a book of mine and looking at a book that was on the desk that I claimed as my own for the hours I was there, it was a book about New York, mostly black and white photos from the 1900s to today. And inside that book someone left blank pieces of note paper, which I wrote quotes from "The Picture of Dorian Gray" (read it if you haven't!) and decided to spread them out throughout the library. This is a picture of one of the notes I left behind!
(ps i do know that it's spelt explanation, i just didn't have another piece of paper left and didn't want to scratch it off)

Just arrived. The card stock and coating aren't quite as nice as my previous cards, and the rounded corners look like they were hacked off with a bolt cutter, so I'm not sure I'm gonna use this printer again. Still, they were cheap and they arrived in time for RailsConf.
The thing is, she's not entirely original anyway. She's got a Mountney steering wheel (factory one's in the pile of spares), and a Pye radio and pair of speakers in the boot - the radio is very 80s, with rotary tuning! Its not antiquated though, it's a full tri-band with MW, LW, and FM; when demonstrated, it was already tuned to my favoured station, Classic FM. But enough of the interior.
