D345 40145 powers through Kemble leading Pathfinder’s 'The Golden Anniversary' railtour, forming 1Z40 0701 Burton-on-Trent to Weymouth on 10th June 2023.
It was exactly 50 years since Pete Watts’ first F&W railtour on 10 June 1973, which was the 'Snowdonian', 1Z54 Gloucester to Pwllheli with 24s 5079 & 5087 and 47164. It was good to see the F&W ‘Veronica Vulture‘ headboard above the right buffer, not seen that for a few years!
47815 was at the rear
CNW train ESGBA leaves Powers behind after doing the local work and connecting with the turn from Antoine on June 25, 1986. 6729, 6712 and 4140 have the Green Bay bound freight well in hand on a beautiful summer morning. The trailing geep is an unpleasant reminder that the Bigs are on borrowed time and will not survive 1986 in service. Only a couple months prior to this shot and the B-B trailer would have likely have been a C425 or RS32 but they were already retired and on there way to St. Louis Auto Shredding.
China is the new rising power in the world.
Japan and US are cautious about this. Especially for Japan, China is becoming the biggest economy in Asia and one of the most influential powers in Asian politics. There are so many issues under dispute between these two powers.
Do you see the tension between panda (China) and sumo (Japan)?
This is a scene in the Richmond Asian mall.

Same day as I shot the photo following this one in my photo stream June 25, 1986. 6717 and 4281 and 31 cars arrive at Powers on the Antoine turn. A few months earlier and that trailing geep would have been a 4 axle Alco but they were gone or nearly gone at this point leaving the big C628's to close out the Alco era on CNW in December 86. I apologize if I posted this shot earlier but it fit in here with posting all three of the trains I shot that morning in Powers.

This office building was originally built in 1869 with major additions added later. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Sword! One of Slayer powers is to create blades from her own body, but usually she prefers to rely on the classic sword-shield combo.
I never liked that blade too much, but then again, too many blades in the box to order more xD
Getting bold and sassy with the cell design. I should really call these iPod Gift Card Cells, because that's where I lifted the color combination, but the result looks more like Austin Powers to me. (13/52)
Escanaba & Lake Superior train ELSPE with the ELS 400, in Great Northern colors heads west as it makes its way around the wye towards Hermansville, Mi. while passing the CN office building in Powers, MI.
After meeting the GBESA and the Antoine Turn in the siding east of town(railroad west) and grabbing a 30 car pick up off the Antoine turn ESGBA slowly passes the depot and heads for Green Bay on June 25, 1986. 6729, 6712 and 4140 have 61 cars in tow leaving Powers.
Following a meet with its eastbound counterpart, train #937/GBESA with C628 6717 leading works at Powers, Michigan on July 9, 1986.
Chicago and Northwestern SD40-2 6904 leads train PRANA around the south leg of the wye at Powers, Michigan, on September 1, 1995.
The UP used to be a place where you could go and not have to see a single railfan let alone get them in your shot but for some reason this guy kept following me and photos at the same location I did. I mean it doesn't help that we were riding together but still what gives?? HA
This Pipevine Swallowtail must have special powers.
How else could you sit completely motionless, drinking nectar from a flower and still flutter only half your wings?
Super Powers. Just saying.
Amazed at Dauset Trails Nature Center.
I wish there was a Storm minifig that I could have included here, but it will probably be a while until we get one.
“There is no meaning to life except the meaning man gives his life by unfolding of his powers.” (Erich Fromm)
Harry Power, last of Australia’s infamous bushrangers, was captured at his hideout on 5 June 1870. Today it’s a popular spot to visit both for the superb view of the King Valley 300 metres or so below and for its part in Australian bushranger history and its connection with Ned Kelly, in particular.
A perfect excuse to stretch the legs halfway between Mansfield and the wineries of the King Valley. Pack a picnic or take a thermos for a warm cup while you overlook the valley and imagine life as a bushranger.
i really like this. the blue paint on the side isnt photoshopped by the way. we're having work done on the house.
"During the gathering of major powers at the Vienna Convention, the allied NRRB and BR added one more power to their alliance; after negotiating with the NSU's representative the three nations pledged to protect and support each other interdependently if anything should be needed. Later news releases soon confirmed this alliance, which has yet to be named. When questioned by the media none of the three countries were willing to discuss any further information on the subject."
