Built between 1898 and 1930 as a sanatorium for lung diseases, Beelitz-Heilstätten was one of the largest hospitals in and around Berlin. It served as a field hospital in the two world wars and was later the Soviets' major military hospital in East Germany. Abandoned in 1994 with the Russian withdrawal, most buildings have slowly fallen into ruins since. What a shame. This hallway is in the one building that was destroyed in WWII and has been an abandoned ruin ever since.

Shot with my new Sigma 18-50 2.8 macro lens. Oh, yes folks I am in love! This will most definitely be my new walk around lens. Finally I can stop using my 18-135 kit lens that was too slow for my typical shots. I worry I'll miss having a focal range past 50 but I think I'll get used to it, after all I've been shooting with mostly my 50mm prime. So far I'm very happy with the Sigma lens. I got this great macro shot and then had to go to the school to shoot the yearbook headshots of all the students and it worked great for their portraits. New lenses are so fun!
Just having a bit of editing fun with a shot of a stack of wooden pallets.
PS I'm sure all this editing fun is going somewhere someday.
PPS I didn't know this word was spelled "pallet." I thought it was just another meaning of "palette."
Taken at Venetian Gardens, Florida (the one in Lake County). These waterfowl are variously referred to as gallinules or coots. The ones at the park are so socialized that they follow you around begging for treats and are willing subjects for photos.
Postprocessed into Kodachrome to preserve some living history. Especially with HFF's DC-3 in the background, seemed only proper.

I consider myself somewhat a Photoshop purist with starting my PS adventure in PS 4.0 25+ years ago. But, these new neural filters offer enhanced workflow value.

Update: the PC was updated recently to a quadcore 3.4 GHZ i7 machine with 16 GB RAM and SSD in a super silent body
