Editing with Lightroom+Midi Fader (BCF 2000). GREAT!!

~ Emily Dickinson

The words in this extract from an Emily Dickinson poem have a special meaning for me. I first read them around the time I met Brad, and they seemed to express just how I felt about meeting him: I was thankful that my heart had found safe harbour. Since then, I've read the complete poem, and I suspect its meaning is less contented than I thought at first ... but I still like this bit of it.

The Winged Heart is one of my favourite things. Haddy, my youngest sister made it: the heart is made of wax, the wings are cast glass. I've had several attempts at photographing it and although today's effort was more successful than my other attempts, I don't think I've done it justice yet. So I'll probably try again another time.

Happy Perfect Purple Valentine!

Please leave a note...

Postprocessing to make the light above the door less blinding.

I passed to the kitchen and saw how great the colorful painting looked through these martini glasses. I had to take a picture. I've never totally refinished the painting after it was ripped in an accident.

Marsa Alam (Arabic: مرسى علم‎) is a town in south-eastern Egypt, on the west coast of the Red Sea. It is currently seeing increasing popularity as a tourist destination and development including the opening of Marsa Alam Airport in 2001.

Marsa Alam is situated near the Tropic of Cancer where the Arabian Desert meets the Red Sea, and it has the appearance of a tropical paradise with its palm trees, mangroves and sea coasts fringed with barrier coral reefs. It has already gained a strong reputation amongst scuba divers due to its numerous and unspoilt diving sites both along the coast and offshore. Sightings of spinner dolphins, dugongs and hammerhead sharks are a frequent occurrence for those who venture into its waters.

Burned car near Malmi, Helsinki. Photo taken with Sony DSC-HX9V + some postprocessing.

Photographed with a Canon Digital Rebel through a Kodak Duaflex at the Alameda County Fair in California.

I post processed this in Canon Digital Photo Professional to increase saturation and contrast.

digital remastered : cellophane effect

I took this one a while back at my dad's house. I haven't been out shooting lately, so am going through old images and practicing post processing techniques. I wanted this one to look like I shot it with expired film. It actually looks pretty close to some of the shots I have gotten on my AE-1 with the 50mm f/1.4. I think that I really brought out the "grain" in this one effectively.

This guy made my lunch today, thanks to him.

The premise of the exercise was the if one started out with a seed image which was both natural and full of structure and symmetry, one would continue to get images which appeared "natural", even though the provoked perceptions may be quite different.

I used PS Elements. In this case, what I see (I know you probably see something different) is a combination between a strawberry, a cows head, and a giant bug's head.

I put this silly title on since I know that a lot of people will be searching Flickr for those two names today, and instead of seeing Beauty and the Beast they'll be treated to My Creature.
