Last week, my ninth graders gave oral presentations. Today, they began thinking about the criteria for giving a positive presentation. First they generated a list of 20 or so things that they thought made a good presentation. Then, in pairs, they tried to winnow their lists down to a top 10; and then on the board, using Post-It® Notes, they tried to winnow it down to five in each of three categories: Content, personal style, and team style. The results have been interesting.

A quick grocery list I jotted down at work. Instead of writing a typical list that might read "soda/water/pb", I noticed that after writing "old bay" I had inadvertently written only the brand names of the items I needed.
An unexpected telephone call, results in a plan of work one wasn't expecting. Looks like I'd better get on with it...

-Thanks to everyone who brought me birthday cake and cupcakes. They're very good, but I live alone and can't eat it all. So I brought it to work.
Here's another addition to my post-it note project. I haven't been doing it much since this week, but maybe I'll start up again. I just hope the cleaning people on campus don't mind too much...
Working on freelance tonight, so today's sketch is something simple and quick from a meeting at work.
My boyfriend got Starbucks for me one morning because I was really tired.
It didn't help much, but it was nice that I got coffee because I love Starbucks!
The night before, I made him a little pack of candy, and we like to make post-it notes for each other so i made him one.
Don't worry I'm not going to bore you with how 2009 as been amazing or whatever. But I will say this- 2009, you have been good to me.
But yeah, I'm completely stoked for 2010.
At the Smart Growth Summit, we made a quick piece of art about what we love about Long Island. Each person wrote their idea on a post-it note and we put those together into a picture of Long Island on the wall.
note the use of post it notes to help dissipate the heat from the laptop. makes it easier to type :)
my life has been reduced to leaving post it notes on my computer or near my computer, and to make sure that i remember it, i am now taking pictures of them...
this one says "something that we can place on the desk that reflects, the source coming from a broadcasted image from the television" - we need to find a reflective surface that can be used to show what's being broadcast on the television without showing the television itself - because we want the shot to focus on the reaction of the actress and we don't want to show both her face and the television set at the same time.... so, we have to think of what we can use to accomplish this, and then we have to find it.... now
