I have a 3M PostIt note upon which I scribbled inky blackness with a Sharpie (I'm all about trade-names!). This little 3x3-inch square of night became the background for a couple experiments. I like it because it's dark, yet textured, and flat. And tiny.

Here is the PostIt note all by itself. No forground, no background, no subject, no floating objects. Just boring, beautiful nothing.

Love is to not die

Love is to dance

Why don't you dance?

I'm writing these verses everywhere so I can write them on the tablet of my heart. (I thought that y'all would find some of these funny.)

The ever mischievous Suzanna drew this response to my painting "Fishgirl Foxhead". Ha!! Love it. www.flickr.com/photos/gemsalsberg/4710701295/

I found this masterpiece stuck to my wall after she trekked home. We'd spent the afternoon drinking tea and eating mountains of fresh made thai noodle salad.

This is a site where you plug in a word and a very snooty man will say it for you. It's great for the correct pronunciation of words like "dour" which no one ever actually says, but it took all of 3 minutes before I regressed and started plugging in other words just for the sheer joy of hearing this guy say "doodoo" in his world weary way. And yes. He will swear for you. Because I had to go there.

so i’m doing the day zero project also known as the 101 in 1001 challenge where you pre-set a list of 101 goals that you want to complete within 1001 days and try to achieve them. i started about a month ago and decided to put away $2-5 in a jar for each task i complete.

Last week, my ninth graders gave oral presentations. Today, they began thinking about the criteria for giving a positive presentation. First they generated a list of 20 or so things that they thought made a good presentation. Then, in pairs, they tried to winnow their lists down to a top 10; and then on the board, using Post-It® Notes, they tried to winnow it down to five in each of three categories: Content, personal style, and team style. The results have been interesting.

Something i'd spotted in the digital phototography school website... except i used a tenner instead of the obligatory poker card... more to come...

When ingenuity, desperation, a couple CD-Rs, a few post-it notes, a hand-full of rubber bands, some tape, and a whole lot of wasted time collide.

In case anyone was wondering, the rubber bands are for increased friction between the cup and the coaster. The rubber bands are wrapped around one CD, and another CD below has sandwiched the rubber bands so they won't move.

Still trying to write this fucking paper.

Still feeling unbelivably gross because Zeb gave me his cold.

Still felled by a herculean strength of inability to concentrate.

I think I am mixing my metaphors.

Art Director Russel Quadros' workspace. I don't know what this is or what it is supposed to mean. I think it is just important sounding words and cartoons. Thank God Russel doesn't smoke because his office contains so much combustible material, it would go up in seconds.
