Possible contender for Compositionally Challenged Week 14 Know Your Camera, if it's eligible.
The idea is to use a camera setting / feature you hardly ever use, I've gone for the big cheat they call focus bracketing.
Just for good measure I went with a lens I hardly ever use, the 24-105mm which I've been very critical of in the past - I think it lacks character, and the images it produces are just a bit... meh.
What we have here is a stack of 65 images merged in Photoshop - and as per the rules of the challenge, no other editing at all.
I've posted the first and last images too.
What's impressed me here is the lack of shifting between the images, you can see from the border there isn't much in it.
Maybe I'm coming around to this focus stacking malarky, and that boring lens 😋
An unidentified plant, probably a mature specimen of Syngonium sp., growing along the fence in my backyard, with interesting red fruit on long stalks. Any further help with identification gratefully appreciated. (Townsville, Australia)
I took a lot of window shots on Thursday's adventure, and this is one. Most of the others are dark like this one, but I don't really mind.
On the route down from Mount Longdon there is a demolition or burning ground. I can only assume this was where excess captured Argentine ammunition was burnt to make it safe. What remains are tantalising clues to the weapons used in the battle to recapture the Falkland Islands.

You darkness from which I come,
I love you more than all the fires
that fence out the world,
for the fire makes a circle
for everyone
so that no one sees you anymore.
But darkness holds it all:
the shape and the flame,
the animal and myself,
how it holds them,
all powers, all sight--
and it is possible: its great strength
is breaking into my body,
I have faith in the night.

It's a good thing the BNSF stack held off for an extra couple seconds. I wanted a clean and uninterrupted picture of the NS 8025.

Cornwall is possibly the quietest and most isolated county in England. 8 friends and myself, all aged 18, went on a holiday to Seaton, Cornwall. Whilst travelling to cornwall little did we realise that they'd be a hunt for a possible gunman. To our surprise on the journey to Seaton, a small village near Looe, a tweet showed that police were looking for a gunman... of course we thought nothing of it... despite the fact that widegate (the most vulnerable area) was only 4 miles away.
At 5pm, we started to notice police cars everywhere. Part of our party without cameras passed widegate at the time during a shop to be stopped by a police road block. We turned on the news to see BBC say there was a gunman and that there was a sighting of him in Seaton (the village we were staying in with a population of about 50-100) We panicked, and as more and more police cars came in we used the camera's Zoom Lens from the first floor to try and see what was going on. Eventually, we plucked up the nerve to speak to an armed officer to find out that there had been a siting of the man, who was involved in a domestic violence issue and since disappeared with his two registered guns. We drank, and it all blew over. The next day we found out that the man had been arrested and subsequent ally hospitalised indefinitely. Whether this was due to bullet found or mental illness wasn't published.
Anyway, that was an interesting start to our holiday. (we didn't go looking for these shots, they just sort of happened whilst we were holidaying)
We don't know anything about the police matters or anything, only the things that were told to us by local and national news at the time and later on, and information the police gave us informally.

It's not possible for me to make one "real" brooch each day and so I thought I could post samples, work in progress, sketches and a few actual brooches every now and then.
I hope it's OK with you and that you won't think that I'm cheating :-)
The reason I'm posting these samples is because I think they could make interesting brooches. They were made having four specific greek words in mind and the materials available were paper, fabric, threads, card stock , wire, acrylic paints and aluminum.
Who knew there were so many random abandoned vehicles hiding along the banks of the Verde? Tim thought this might be an old T-Bird.
(I think many of them were dumped there for bank erosion control in the 1960s and 1970s)
(I hope this is an insect)
Does anyone know what kind of bug this is? It looks kind of like a caterpillar, but is really bumpy. It is kind of orange with a reddish-orange head. I found it in Monte Verde, Costa Rica in May

Join us in our bid to raise as much money as possible for MacMillan Cancer Support, a charity which is close to our hearts here at PCRG for their exemplary continued care and support of our team mate Jukes #01 during her illness. 100% of the profits from both the door and the raffle will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support - let's see how much we can raise!
PCRG will be taking on Cornwall Roller Derby in a rematch of both teams first ever public bout - the score of that first game was 161 - 89 to CRD - this time around we want to reverse that score and take home the win.
There will also be a mixed opener for anyone that would like to skate in memory of Jukes - the teams have been co-ordinated and we have TEAM YELLOW taking on TEAM PURPLE - we have one or two spots still available - contact us if you can fill them - skater tickets are £10 including a t-shirt and a donation to Macmillan :-).
Tickets for spectators are just £5, an absolute bargain as we will have a Vintage Fair with many vendors selling a range of vintage clothes, accessories and household items.
We will have Swing Dancing during the day and as our half time entertainment as well as an AWESOME raffle filled with brilliant prizes. After all the fun and games during the day we'll be heading to The Vauxhall Quay to partake in one of Jukes' favourite activities...a whole lotta dancing!!
Click below for your tickets now, or if you can't attend but would like to donate, then head over to our JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/Jukinjamboree
