The Whisky
Inverleven distillery lied on the cusp between the lowlands and the highlands, at the northern shores of the Clyde in Dumbarton. Inverleven whisky has always been quite rare, especially as the distillery has never released an official bottling. The distillery was part of the Dumbarton grain complex and when the distillery was demolished, its stills were removed, which means that in the decades to come the precious spirit will disappear from the market entirely.
Away from that rather depressing thought, at the moment it is still possible to source Inverleven single malt. There have been a number of independent bottlings, performed by the likes of Gordon & McPhail, Duncan Taylor, and Signatory Vintage. These independent bottlings range from the 1970s right up to the last cask fillings in the early 1990s.
Inverleven was built with the intention of providing spirit to be used in the Ballantine's blends, but the blenders never quite took to the spirit.
The Production
The exact production capacity of Inverleven has been lost with its demolition, but what we do know is, that at one point in time, it was the largest grain whisky distillery in Scotland. Production-wise, Inverleven had quite a unique situation. Inverleven was not a 'distillery' as such, but rather two stills within the larger Dumbarton distillery complex, which produced mainly grain whisky. Both single malt whisky and the grain whisky drew their water from the stunning Loch Lomond.
The Pot Stills
Inverleven was distilled using only two stills: one wash and one spirit still. The wash still had a capacity of 25’000 litres, while the spirit still had a capacity of 20’000 litres. Both of the original stills had a traditional 'Speyside' shape, with wide, spherical lids and tall conical necks. In 1959, Inverleven took over the use of one of the stills, that were used to produce the Lomond single malt on site, which had a distinctive 'Lomond' shape. This still had the same bulb shaped bottom as the Speyside still, but rather than a lovely tapering neck, the Lomond still had a thick, wide neck resembling a coffee can, with a flat or dome-shaped head. The still was used to replace the original Inverleven spirit still. The angle of the lyne arm was quite severe, which had a dramatic effect on the flavour of the spirit – Hiram Walkers, who owned the distillery, did that deliberately in order to cater to the demands of the blenders.
Maltings
The malts that were used in the production of Inverleven were unpeated, and sourced from a nearby industrial source.
The Warehouses
Inverleven was stored on the Dumbarton site in a small complex of dunnage bonded warehouses. The distillery used a combination of oak and sherry casks in which to age the spirit.
History
Inverleven distillery was built as part of the Dumbarton complex in 1938, making it a relatively young distillery. Hiram Walker & Sons established the single malt with the intention of providing spirit to be used in blends. The site at Dumbarton was owned by George Ballantine and Company and hosted their continuous stills, which were used to produce grain whisky. In this sense, Inverleven was never a true 'distillery', but instead was simply a pair of stills within a larger facility. In 1991 Inverleven was mothballed. However, Inverleven’s legacy continues through its equipment. Bruichladdich recently decided to reopen the Lochindaal distillery at Port Charlotte and transported the machinery and stills from Inverleven to Islay.

Harmony. Explore the art of mathematics and make your own drawing using this bizarre and strange contraption. Harmony is a harmonograph, a mechanical apparatus that employs pendulums to create a geometric image. The drawings created typically are 'Lissajous curves', or related drawings of greater complexity.
"Walking past a blacksmiths one day, Pythagoras heard a familiar harmony in the ringing tones of the hammers at work inside. He discovered that the weights of the hammers were responsible for their relative notes. A hammer weighing half as much as another sounded a note twice as high."
Harmony - created and presented by Bird and Bee.

This is German Mauser Military type M96 vintage plastic kit manufactured by LS in the late 70’s to early 80’s. I have soft spot on the subject especially the version with Broomhandle which I also have in this series.
Because the company was bankrupt in 1992 some of their kit moulds were purchased by other companies but somehow gun (all non-firing scale model pistol and rifle kits alike) line did not continue anywhere. Perhaps due to the low market demand with possible reason that no one wants to build and paint old school gun kits anymore whereas there are tons of ready built and beautifully finished BB soft airguns and gas guns on the market.
They are not easy to find even in Japan and can be very expensive but I love the challenge to hunt and get one by one in good price and condition and I am very happy to add this one finally to my vintage plastic kit collection.

Im in the middle of having a horrible night. After the gym i started to feel sick. I haven't been feeling that great for the past few days. I get stomach aches and headaches far to easy. I started to feel a headache coming on and was set to take some aspirin. I was hungry and i didn't want to take anything on an empty stomach so i went to a local burger place down the street. When i was eating i was thinking hmm maybe this isn't a good idea. Julia and I had plans to shoot an idea she had in mind. She wanted to look like a living doll and have the picture blown out to where she looked very pale. I thought this was alot different then how i normally shoot but alittle change is always good. While waiting for julia i could feel my headache getting worse and worse so i decided to lay down for awhile but not letting myself fall asleep. By the time she got here my head was throbbing so i popped another couple of aspirin. She got ready for the shoot and the aspirin had the reverse effect and now i had alot of stomach pain. After throwing up for what seemed like forever i set up my lights and got to work. I set my speedlights on manual and shot at full power so i could produce as might light as possible. I wanted to over expose as much as i could but still keep my highlights. The end result is this. I wish i didn't feel so sick i feel like i rushed julia and didn't give her my best effort. There is always be other days though and she was patient while i took breaks to try to feel better.

Is it possible to fall in love with a virtual mate? In Second Life, couples prove that theory on a regular basis. They do fall in love. Sometimes, it lasts and sometimes it doesn't.
Those that last are a remarkable group of couples. They are remarkable both in SL and RL where the divorce rate matches the break-ups in SL!
My partner, Xavier and I enjoy SL very much. We dance, we explore, we network, we chill, we love and we have a blast doing silly things.
So many places offer romantic areas such as ballrooms, chill zones and explorations. Here are some of our favorites...
Avilion Ballroom is a special favorite of mine. It's where I first danced with my first crush... and now I dance here with my partner. Recently, renovated, the Avilion offers a beautiful place to romance each other.
Phatland is another. More jazz music than Avilion, Phat's is a sophisticated club for couples. Beautifully built, we seem to frequent this place a lot.
Another great ballroom venue is Frank's Place. A lot of avies hang out here, so do prepare for a bit of lag. I suggest that you arrive early so that you can grab a spot on the dance floor.
A smaller club that we frequent regularly is the MMAC Jazz Link. Every week, DJ VJ Shojo spins an eclectic set of jazz and indie tunes. Very chill and very romantic little jazz club. Dash Renoir is the perfect host there.
Then there's the beautiful Ballroom">Palace, where grand is an understatement. We usually arrive to a nearly empty place dancing alone in our own world. Very romantic.
But, the most grand of all is a recent discovery. Tempura Island and Ballroom is the epitome of a lover's paradise. Grand and magnificent, the ballroom is done in gold gilt, with a beautiful ceiling and wall textures. The stairs leading to the ballroom and castle are simple but ever so opulent. This is an LM that I have sent to all my friends! LOL!
And we still frequent the clubs that offer a place for us. A place where we can be a couple without the drama that other places bring...
We hit Dorian Gray for DJ Barbs set and Xavier set off his JMD particle hud for a romantic interlude on the dance floor. So fun!
A big thanks to DJ Dint Talon for an awesome night over at IPR365 Milky Way Entertainment complex's K-Lounge. OMG, we had a blast! DJ Dint was spinning an incredible set of jungle, tribal, trance... you name it, he was spinning it! We stayed until the end!
We also went to Bogart's Cafe which is kinda a ballroom and kinda a lounge setting. You can dress in ballroom or cocktail dress there. We often go in between clubbing for a quick ballroom dance to lovely jazz music.
We usually stop off at Spanish DJ Sonar Halsey's Future Club. It is always psy heaven there! And BassLine Island for some hardcore tunes to get the blood pumping. Both are fun clubs for couples to hang at and dance.
And when we explore, we always seem to find the cutest places such as Midnight City for NBC's romantic dinner club, Rainbow Room Dining and the Italian pizza place that reminds me of North Beach in San Francisco!
The other night, Xavi took me to NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's build featuring an interactive floor of of the entire world's atmosphere! Wow! This from the US Department of Commerce!
And, when we chill at home we can be silly and set off our particles and dance or pull all our emotes and gestures for hours of silliness.
Couples in Second Life are just like couples in real life. They play, they love, they emote real emotions towards each other... and as best friends, they share the best of Second Life together.
1106 N Germantown Pkwy, Cordova, TN // I almost sure this used to be an Applebee's. The shape and style of the building looks so similar to Applebee's. Maybe one of my local contacts will know the history of this place. There's an Abner's behind it that used to be a Fazoli's, according to what I've heard. I've eaten at this I Hop and the interior is similar to Applebee's with the step up dining area around the sides.

This is a photograph from the 35th Michael Manning Memorial "Dunshaughlin 10KM" Road Race and Fun Run which took place in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath, Ireland on Saturday 21st June 2014 at 19:30. This race is widely acknowledged in the running community as one of the best races in Ireland. It is also one of the oldest 10KM races in Ireland. The numbers for this race have exceeded expectations year on year for the past number of years. In 2008 a record field of 306 took to the start line but by 2012 this number had more than doubled with 647 runners taking part. The starting numbers in 2013 topped this again at 668. Then this year the numbers rocketed to a new record of 883. Who knows but this race could reach 1,000 entrants next year. The work of the organising committee must be commended on making this event possible. The Dunshaughlin 10KM has earned it's place at the top of the pedestal of Irish running through the sheer hard work of Dunshaughlin AC over the years. Well done to all.
We have an extensive set of photographs from the race tonight taken at the 1 mile mark and then at the 400M and 600M to go mark. The full set is available at: www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157645329098733/

I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?
You can download the photographic image here direct to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. However - look for a symbol with three dots 'ooo' or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.
I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?
If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.

We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Creative Commons aims to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

Here was buried
Thomas Jefferson
Author of the Declaration of American Independence
of the Statute of Virginia for religious freedom
Father of the University of Virginia
Before he died, Thomas Jefferson left instructions concerning the epitaph to be carved into his gravestone; his instructions further stipulated, "& not a word more." Of all that he had done in his life, these were the ones most important to him, the ones for which he wished to be remembered. Among those omitted: delegate to the Continental Congress, member of Virginia legislature, governor of Virginia, minister to France, first US secretary of state, third US president.
Thomas Jefferson commenced work on Monticello at age 25 and died there at age 83; although public service took him from his home, often for long periods, he returned when possible, and at times declared his intention to quit public life and retire to Monticello; fittingly, he is buried there. The grave shown here is in a family cemetery a short distance beyond the western end of the West Lawn. Out tour guide said the cemetery still accepts Jefferson's descendants, and that a burial had taken place a matter of days before our visit.
Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966, Monticello -- together with the original "academical village" central area of the University of Virginia -- was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, in recognition of Jefferson's architectural achievements and contributions. The latter distinction applies to Monticello the house, rather than to the entire property; perhaps that is also the case with the NHL and NRHP listings.

TRACING MOBILITY
CARTOGRAPHY AND MIGRATION IN NETWORKED SPACE
24.11.2011 - 12.12.2011
Opening: 23.11.2011
Wed – Mon 11 – 19 h | Symposion 26.11. 11 – 17 h
all events
Tracing Mobility sets out to examine how electronic networks and mobile media are transforming our conceptions of time, space and distance.
The exhibition presents the positions of 16 international artists who trace the shifting terrain of global and local mobility, virtual and material movement. They use varying approaches to pursue the numerous questions of our present's mobility: Where can we escape to when online- and offline worlds converge? What does the movement of a body in a landscape indicate when every point of the earth is within reach through the aid of digital technology? How do mobile devices and media alter our mindset and change our perception of time and space?
By means of installations, videos, performances and paintings, but also in the guise of iPhone Apps, maps and open-source collaborations, we see artists developing strategies in order to position themselves within this dynamic topography and to find possible points of exit.
A Symposium and the Tracing Mobility Open Platform will offer further explorations of these themes via lectures, talks and workshops.
Exhibiting Artists: Frank Abbott (UK), Aram Bartholl (DE), Neal Beggs (UK/FR), Heath Bunting (UK), Janet Cardiff / George Bures Miller (CAN), Miles Chalcraft (UK/DE, Simon Faithfull (UK/DE), Yolande Harris (UK/NL), Folke Köbberling & Martin Kaltwasser (DE), Landon Mackenzie (CAN), Open_Sailing (FR/JP), plan b (Sophia New & Dan Belasco Rogers) (UK/DE), Esther Polak & Ivar van Bekkum (NL), Gordan Savicic (AT/NL) , Mark Selby (UK), Michelle Teran (CAN/DE)

It used to be possible to earn and use My Coke Rewards points directly at certain vending machines!
My Coke Rewards vending machine features require either a plastic MCR card or a virtual card stored in the Softcard (formerly Isis) Mobile Wallet, which I used. Each purchase earned you points, and, as a bonus, you could also enter the codes underneath the bottle caps to earn double the points in the same account. For 30 points, you could select a free drink.
Softcard Wallet ceased to function after being acquired by Google. The My Coke Rewards functionality is still there on the machines, but sadly I can no longer use it, since I have not figured out where to acquire a physical MCR card.
Google acquired the Smart Tap technology used to send the MCR loyalty card through NFC, but has not implemented it in Google Wallet at time of writing.

Hamburg has a „refugee problem“? No, Hamburg has a housing problem. For decades real estate developers and politicians have treated our cities as if mainly high earners inhabited them, as if people with low income and the homeless had no right to the city – and as if the worldwide flows of forced migration weren’t able to reach Europe. The arrival of more than one million refugees fleeing war, poverty and terror has clearified that this way of city-planning is irresponsible. Suddenly it becomes clear that a policy that has constantly feared „ghettoisation“ when it comes to social housing will fail to cope with the historic challenges of our time. The neoliberal city has been unable to develop concepts for good, affordable and sustainable housing, it has turned the social housing scheme into a subsidy-scheme for investors – and all this lapses have come back to bite. Now it’s high time to talk about new ways to continue building our cities.
Thus, on May 28 we call for a parade of choreographed blocks, leading into a public hearing under the motto „A different planning is possible“. We will start at Karolinenplatz / Messehallen, following a suggestion of the Hamburg Chamber of Architects: Why does Hamburg need an exhibition center, unused for most of the year, in such a central location? How about moving it to outskirts and reusing the exhibition site? We end our parade at the square in front of the empty Axel Springer-house – a former editorial building of 90.000 square meter that would make a perfect example for a different kind of planning, the right place for a public hearing to debate on a city in which ‚higher and more’ does not only benefit those who can afford it.
What we need is a planning that includes platforms of access and mediation and brings together the new neighbourhoods, a planning which organises a sustainable form of social housing by bringing cooperatives and new forms of communalisation
into the game – instead of encouraging privatisation of public space for the benefit of the real estate sector under the premise of building new housing for refugees. Last but not least, we need a perspective on housing, where origin and status do not matter.
We will not leave the city to the Not-in-my-Backyard-citizens, who instinctively demonise the planned arrival-quarters as „ghettos“. Furthermore, we don’t believe that the deportation campaign, promoted by the governing Social Democratic and
Green Party – affecting hundreds of people every month – produces any relief. Instead, it is a cruel attempt, doomed to failure, to appease right-wing sentiments. Therefore, we also call for the manifestation „Migration is a Right! Deportation is a Crime!“ that takes place on May 14.
We believe that city has no upper limits. Newcomers don’t remain strange in cities.
Densification is the essence of the city – it produces spaces, provides chances and makes us all smarter.

I was looking through several members' streams and found on Boo_Boo_Kitty's that she has started watermarking her photos because of the current furore on usage of copyrighted photos posted to Flickr.
Below was my comment.
Re your note, I saw this too. I am annoyed by this too but wouldn't go so far as to watermark my photos. I think it spoils the photo.
The questions for me was 'Am I ever going to try and sell any of my photos?' and 'Would I enjoy seeing my photos used or published?' For me it was no and yes in that order so I chose Some rights reserved with Attribution. You must give the original author credit.
I have, for example, a book on Asia on my bookshelf with my photo of the Great Wall, a travel guide for South Africa with my elephant photo on the front cover and my car club magazine with my photo of my car on the front cover (OK I submitted the last one!)
If you put All rights reserved anyone who does use your photo is not going to tell you and you will only be annoyed if you find out. If you allow usage with accreditation you will find many (of course not all) people still asking if they may use your photo and offering a copy of the publication or the link to their web site.
I have seen several of my photos published and even created a set for published photos.
Putting all possible restrictions on uploaded photos can't stop someone doing a screen grab and using that as mobile phone wallpaper, in a blog and so on. Even your faint watermark would be barely visible on a mobile phone.
If I had a photo I wanted to sell or have restricted usgae I wouldn't put it on Flickr.
Hope I don't seem like I am on my soapbox, it's just my point of view.
What do others think?
