So many photos of this place, but at different times of day and at different times of the year, this place blooms new opportunity...

Yarramundi is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Yarramundi is located 69 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Hawkesbury.

The suburb is named after Yarramundi, an Indigenous Australian of the Boorooberongal clan of the Darug people. He was a garadyi or 'doctor' and was called by Europeans 'the chief of the Richmond Tribe'.

This area was previously known as Kearns Retreat.

Una lástima que el viento no dejara de jugar con las ramas del arbolito... porque el cielo estaba espectacular!!

Being Away From you..Can never let anyone take My Shoes..

This is a shell that I brought back from Baja California, Mexico at least seven years ago. I couldn't always catch big fish, but I could always find shell to light and photograph.

Lighting is from a Yongnuo manual strobes in an 8.6 inch Lastolite soft box positioned on the right side of the shell. Fill light is from a hand held mirror at camera left. The strobe and my tripod mounted camera were triggered with a Yongnuo RF-603N.

Other plants, flowers, fruit or thingys that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Objects album. For each image in the set, and there are over 2000 of them, I describe how I set up the lighting for that particular shot. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157628079460544/

Other picture of shells that I've posted on Flick can be seen in my Shells album: www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/albums/72157626043932290

* Our friend Nicole, mirrored in white on the far side of this pond, was right about the view being well worth the bumpy 4x4 road getting there (near Ashcroft, CO). Elevation of about 10,000 feet near the Castle Creek. In fact I think the road is also called Castle Creek Road.

The cat wondered just how long Jo would stay in the Lotus position before he would get fed (again).

Parrots are one of the most colorful members of the entire bird kingdom. They can be cute and cuddly, and sometimes, simply awe you with their majesty and elegance. Parrots have many sub-species. Macaws, cockatoos, cockatiels and budgies are some examples. They are often referred to as winged rainbows...

I tried to position myself at the breaking zone on the front stretch where they began braking and downshifting. Was hoping for some shots with a few flames coming out of the exhaust but I really wasn't seeing much.

At any rate, I found a section of the fence that was not as fortified as the majority of the fence around the front stretch, which is why I'm a little behind the car.

To my surprise, 200mm was able to get me pretty close without the need for much cropping. Only snipped a bit off the front to even out the shot. More was lost going from 4:3 to 16:9. Image is still 5800px wide so plenty of pixels to play with if I wanted to.

The GTD cars were hitting around 170-180 before the brake zone. Knowing how much fence I had to shoot through and how big the reinforcements were, I felt a shallow DOF and relatively slow shutter speed (for those speeds) would get me a pretty clean shot of the car. I'm moderately satisfied with it.

A shot I took on a storm chase last summer and finally got around to processing it...

This is Lake George, an ancient lake, believed to be more than a million years old.

Originally, small streams drained its catchment into the Yass River, but then the Lake George Escarpment rose due to major crustal movement along a strong fault line, blocking this drainage and forming the lake. Lake George has in previous Ice Ages been much larger and deeper.

Currently, the lake is dry and has been for many years... I cant imagine what it would look like full of water and life...

Got Rogue's attention while she was in the middle of cleaning herself and this was the result. 😆

Position: This photo has taken on the playa of Las Palmas. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a city and capital of Gran Canaria island in the Canary Islands. Las Palmas is located in the northeastern part of the island of Gran Canaria, about 150 kilometres off the Moroccan coast in the Atlantic Ocean.

Positioned underneath the A56 in Frodsham makes for a decent vantage point to capture trains crossing the elegant bridge over the River Weaver a few hundred yards downstream. In this shot a class 175 unit works the 06.50 Manchester Piccadilly - Llandudno Junction (1D31) Arriva Trains Wales service on 24th March 2014.

Peeking into Peoples' Bags is Now Acceptable

I'm totally exhausted after a week's stay in Shanghai setting up the new store, our first store in China. I did carry a lot of useful stationery tools in a travel pouch in and out of the dusty store where I breathed in and out hovering particles, making props and arranging displays, but here's what's in my other bag which might interest you more.

This other bag is one made by Lomo called Sidekick, which I have magically put all my essential stuffs inside. I can lose the pouch but I can't lose this one so I was seen carrying at least one bag all the time, worrying it being stolen if I leave it somewhere. You know, in construction site, anything can happen. It contains my most treasured communication, GTD and photography tools: Canon F1 film camera, Panasonic GF1 (I used it to take this shot, with an adaptor I can can use the Canon lens on my GF1), films, Macbook Air, iPhone, pens, name card in case, USB finger, watch, Moleskine sketchbook, mind.depositor 3, diary, etc. Check out the flickr photo to see in details. No wonder I needed those RMB$68 massage sessions after work, my shoulder hurts, even now.

Months ago city'super and Moleskine Asia sat together pounding our heads trying to find a better way to present the two series that would be arriving almost at the same time - Folio Professional and 18 months diaries (after the highly successful Passions journals). We took the "What's in your bag?" concept and here we go, showcasing and peeking into people's bag, it is fun. The campaign is still going on, you just take a picture of your bag's content preferably with a Moleskine product inside, together with such a flyer you pick up from our stores, upload to city'super's facebook (preferably "liking" it too) and you get a chance to win a full set of Folio Professional products worth a HK$3,714. I'm yet to see some quality photos or creative ways to do such shots, so do play with us this little game, see who's photo is the best! Don't worry about eligibility, if your shot is great, I'll find a way to maybe send you some Moleskines.

To get the sunset positioned over one of the coves on Lake Argyle, we drove part way around the lake, turned off the roadway an dfollowed a gravel road down towards the lake. About two thirds of the way down, the road was blocked, so we hiked from there down to a primitive campsite and then beyond it to the shoreline. However, the water level was higher than I expected, and so we were not able to work our way from that point along the shoreline. A few fish later (caught by by grandson), we had a breif view of a beautiful sunset.

The night before, when I debated whether go to the lake, the sunset turned out to be spectacular. Unfortuantely, I stayed home that night and missed out.

"in the end

All you can hope for

Is the love you felt

To equal the pain

You've gone through

Bones

Starved in flesh

Surround your

Aching heart

Full of love"
