On my trip to White Pocket I met with the "Action Photo Tours" of David Swindler. Watching their performance, I was very impressed. The scenery is lit by 2 Low Level LED lights: one positioned behind the rocks on the right the other in front of the scene on the left. Thanks Johnny for letting me participate.

Position: This photo has been taken on the coast of the lake Lago de Garda, Italy.

This shot was taken out in the Bisit Badlands of New Mexico. I was out shooting with friends in this very remote area outside of Farmington and was delighted to trek in with 5 friends and emerge with nine. If you are interested in a trip to this and several other locations there, Wayne Pinkston and I will be hosting a couple of workshops to this very location in July 2018.

We will be covering all aspects of Nightscape Photography from start to finish, All apps used to calculate Milky Way position and time to shoot, how to confidently make your way through the wilderness in the dark using GPS and everything you need to know to capture the image of a lifetime. Come out and join us on our adventure "Fantasy Themed" Workshop. The will also be hosting a post-processing session after the workshop. If you would like to come and hang out with Wayne and I and learn our LLL process then DM or Flickr Mail me or Wayne for more details. or click the link below to sign up!! looking forward to shooting with you. :)

My husband shot this patient—or scared-witless—Pacific tree frog using his Nikkor 200mm macro lens and his old Nikon D4.

Same position but different angle than mine—in first comment.

There's room in the world for many different styles and apertures, and Howard and I are at either end of the spectrum. He's an IT Doc and physics guy, and has little close-sighted vision. We make a perfect pair, united in admiration of this tiny frog. Howard took this at 13:58. I took mine at 11:40. Both in shade of back deck.

Saturday, several of us are gathered at Commonwealth Lake (at safe distancing), waiting for the osprey. Finally, one showed up, and did take the strike position a few times, but never took a dive.

Dewdrops form on slackened lips

too far gone for true love's first kiss

shadowed angels in the park

your silhouette clear on the morning grass

I lay a rose across your chest

the symbol of eternal rest

I hope you find the peace in death

you never could in life's sweet breath

One day you finally knew

what you had to do, and began,

though the voices around you

kept shouting

their bad advice --

though the whole house

began to tremble

and you felt the old tug

at your ankles.

"Mend my life!"

each voice cried.

But you didn't stop.

You knew what you had to do,

though the wind pried

with its stiff fingers

at the very foundations,

though their melancholy

was terrible.

It was already late

enough, and a wild night,

and the road full of fallen

branches and stones.

But little by little,

as you left their voices behind,

the stars began to burn

through the sheets of clouds,

and there was a new voice

which you slowly

recognized as your own,

that kept you company

as you strode deeper and deeper

into the world,

determined to do

the only thing you could do --

determined to save

the only life you could save.

Have a GREAT day my friends!!!

Stood among the conifers, juggling position and exposure to ensure I didn't blow out parts of the tree I was shielding the lens behind, this was a tricky but satisfying shot. Sometimes when I shoot sun rays I am in awe and its easy to forget to take the shot :)

Ballerinas have nothing on this bird! I can watch these Common yellow Leg Sandpipers for hours. I love their slender legs and long necks as they stride purposely in the low tide.

I think they look like dancers ... acrobatic and swift. When flying they extend their legs beyond their tails - gorgeous.

I think this is the 5th position, anyone??

Hoping all is well.

“Listen…” His words trailed off with a sigh. When he did that I knew what was coming next.

He gestured to the side and spoke again, “I know you’re the Princess and all, but you can’t have me locking up every person who looks at you the wrong way.”

I stopped and gave him one of my winning smiles, I even added a brief batting of my eyes for extra measure. “You like it.” I gave him a light tap to his chest and started walking again.

I knew he rolled his eyes at me, I could feel it. A moment later he followed after, re-taking up his position as my guard. He has had his position for over two-years now and not once had he hesitated to take care of anyone who came at me with ill-intentions. Sometimes I liked to think it was simply because he was good at his job, but other times I wondered if it was something else . . .

I shot this last November in Destin, FL as the sun set over the ocean. I stumbled across it in my archives as I was searching for something to post.

One of my attempts for the "Macro Mondays" theme "Stone".

Shot with a (Tomioka) "Tominon MC 48 mm F 4" (enlarging) lens on a Canon EOS R5.

Too early for lunch, the colourful chairs and the attractively decorated tables prepared ready. The tables situated in an enviable position elevated over looking the old city square, will soon be filled with people taking a leisurely meal.

Happy Caturday~ Looking on the Bright Side

When a cat is playing or frightened, they try to make themself look as big as possible. A stiff-legged hopping gait often accompanies this puffing out of their fur.

Jerri often assumes this pose when playing with Oscar, much to our amusement and delight!

Unfortunately, I was not able to see this guy pupate. It happened in the wee hours of the morning when I was still snug in my bed. However, there is a beautiful Chrysalis hanging from this leaf now. I’ll post that picture tomorrow. Good luck on your transformation Monarch!

Bridge up! It's always fun to catch the bridges in the up position.

Position: This photo was taken in the town Kladno, Czech Republic.

The Wooden Pole on the Peak District's Longshaw Estate is said to stand on the site of an ancient pole. You can see the pole itself in the distance in the top right corner of this photo. Although periodically replaced by the National Trust, who now own the land, the original pole is believed to have served as a way marker/guide post on an old packhorse route and may also have marked the boundary between the villages of Hathersage and Holmesfield. Whatever its original purpose, it occupies a commanding position beside the A6187, and yet many visitors to the area drive past without even noticing it. However, its status as a landmark gives the whole area of countryside surrounding it the name Wooden Pole.

Crane positioned on a float barge

According to Wikipedia :

American Crane Corporation is an American manufacturer of construction cranes based in Wilmington, North Carolina. It manufacturers lattice boom crawler cranes with capacities ranging from 50 to 275 tons. The American Crane Corporation was founded in 1882 as the Franklin Manufacturing Company, and in 1892 the name changed to American Hoist & Derrick. The company manufacturers terrain cranes, crawler cranes and tower cranes. In 1998 American Crane Corporation was acquired by Terex for $27 million. The purchase of American Crane Corporation brought Terex a manufacturer of lattice boom cranes.
