La Posada del Potro representa un tipo de vivienda muy habitual en el s. XV. Denominadas corrales, eran casas formadas por apartados donde las familias vivían en habitaciones dispuestas en torno a un patio común presidido por el pozo.
Declarada monumento artístico, conserva casi intacto el interior. El patio y las cuadras, la galería alta, con su barandas, soportes y tejadillo de madera, sus pequeñas habitaciones, se han mantenido casi incólumes en el transcurso de seiscientos años y se pueden disfrutar tras una espléndida y rigurosa rehabilitación, recientemente llevada a cabo por los arquitectos Pedro Caro y Rosa Lara.
Esta posada, universalmente popular, aparece mencionada en El Quijote. Fue lugar de reunión de truhanes durante los s. XVI y XVII.
