A standard large one cent piece of Canada with the second portrait design showing Victoria wearing a crown issued between 1870 and 1901 What is different here is that the coin has been severely defaced with lines scored into it forming an outer margin of four lines with three inner ones. The reverse has received identical treatment. Two indents on the edge suggest the piece was clamped in a vice whilst the lines were scored. Most odd!
