So many of my images are made under the influence... of music.

Hauser performing Adagio by Albinoni with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra at his classical solo concert at the Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, October 2017.

This beautiful portrait of a Peony, the very photogenic Peony. You have to get them just at the right moment, otherwise they can become temperamental and 'soft-petalled' LOL

2X2, 2 blooms and 2 buds, such a joyous little set.

Dingeling dancing in the breeze.

More Fuchsia flowers from the garden. Another variety, even more delicate, smaller and candy pink! Many plants are in pots.

Hence all the variations with all my favourites.

Fuchsia is a genus of flowering plants that consists mostly of shrubs or small trees.

The first, Fuchsia triphylla, was discovered on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola (present day Dominican Republic and Haiti) in 1703 by the French Minim monk and botanist, Charles Plumier.

He named the new genus after the renowned German botanist Leonhart Fuchs

The vast majority of garden hybrids have descended from a few parent species.

Resting Damsel Fly,warming up in the Sunshine.

Anthuriums are a fun flower and never fail to provoke a smile.

They look almost unreal!

The flowers are thick, shiny, ribbed and wrinkled, while the leaves are large and glossy, thus very 'reflective', which makes them so much more difficult to photograph well! Yes I do love a challenge!

The flowers are hermaphrodite, containing male and female flowers.

Quite a whimsical flower.

Yet I do love a challenge!

They belong to the Araceae family, which also includes callas and philodendrons.

Their genus name, Anthurium, comes from the Greek words anthos meaning "flower," and oura, meaning "tail."

Anthurium can also be called "Flamingo Flower" or "Boy Flower", both referring to the structure of the spathe and spadix.

Thank you for your comments and time, M, (*_*)

Ornithogalum is a genus of perennial plants mostly native to southern Europe and southern Africa, belonging to the family Asparagaceae.

Some species are native to other areas such as the Caucasus.

Growing from a bulb, species have linear basal leaves and a slender stalk, up to 30 cm tall, bearing clusters of typically white star-shaped flowers, often striped with green.

The common name of the genus, Star-of-Bethlehem, is based on its star-shaped flowers.

The number of species has varied considerably, depending on authority, from 50 to 300.

This here is ORNITHOGALUM ARABICUM.

Fresh out of the husk…

The field poppy (Papaver rhoeas), like this here, has always been a symbol of death and rebirth, and no other flower combines exquisite delicacy of tissue with such a vibrant blaze of colour.

Whenevere the ground is disturbed - be it by First World War shells or the plough - poppies will grow.

Each flower will produce around 17,000 seeds, of which around 3,000 will remain viable and dormant in untilled ground for at least a century before bursting into flower when the ground is disturbed and the seeds are exposed to light.

Poppies are flowering plants with delicate, papery petals in a variety of shapes and vibrant hues.

There are more than 70 distinct species in the poppy (papaver) genus, including opium poppies (Papaver somniferum), corn poppies (Papaver rhoeas) and Oriental poppies (Papaver orientale).

Poppies are an excellent addition to mixed beds, borders and cut arrangements.

Thank you and have a fabulous day, M, (*_*)

FAIRY TALE FLOWERS

The name hyacinth comes from the Greek Hyakinthos, a handsome young man who in Greek mythology was loved by the sun god Apollo. One day they were practicing throwing the discus but the jealous god of the West Wind, who was also in love with Hyakinthos, blew the discus back and it fatally wounded him. From his blood grew a flower which the god Apollo named after him.

The bulbs were first brought to Western Europe in the 16th century and were first cultivated in Austria in the 1500's. During the 17th and 18th centuries, like the tulip, it was to be found only in the collections of very rich flower collectors. Because of the hyacinth's pervasive perfume (used in perfumerie in France), the bulbs were exorbitantly expensive.

Their heady fragrance, their delicacy and their inimitable spring feeling make them very desirable.

Sixth of January, Twelfth Night, three kings day.

The day of Epiphany – when the three wise men came –.

The New Testament does not give the names of the Magi.

However, traditions and legends identify a variety of different names for them.

In the Western Christian church, they have all been regarded as saints and are commonly known as:

Melchior, a Persian scholar;

Caspar, is often considered to be an Indian scholar.

Balthazar a Babylonian scholar.

Three gifts are explicitly identified in Matthew: gold, frankincense, and myrrh,

Since English translations of the Bible refer to them as "men who studied the stars", they are believed to have been astrologers, who could foresee the birth of a "Messiah" from their study of the stars.

The day is celebrated in many different cultures still.

The White Poppies are not created to insult those who have created red poppies as wreaths in memory of their lost loved ones during war.

Instead it is to emphasise that war should be avoided so that there will be no more wasted lives.

The White Poppies are important flowers that remind people about the beauty of peace - while the Red Poppies remind people of the cost of war.

The Co-operative Women’s Guild was the first one to sell the artificial White Poppies in 1933.

The artificial form of the poppy flower were sold by groups of women who have lost fathers, husbands, brothers and even children during the war and desire that no further bloodshed prevail.

Since then, the White Poppies were popular during Remembrance Day especially for the “No More War Movement”.

Iceland Poppies. Three white Poppies, so dainty, so feminine, so sheer and fragile.

Papaver nudicaule , the Iceland poppy, is a boreal flowering plant.

Native to sub-polar regions of Europe, Asia and North America, and the mountains of Central Asia (but not in Iceland).
