I hiked in the dark, starting at 4:00 AM to get here at sunrise to capture the clearing storm. Needless to say, it did not clear. This is Observation Point in Zion National Park.

Subject: colored water frozen in the kids' spiral popcycle molds melting on a white plate

Lighting: LP160 at 1/8th, 28mm through umbrella camera right; foam core reflector camera left

Setup shot: www.flickr.com/photos/alexbrodie/11942686683/

What I learned:

* Sometimes simple is good :)

I wasn't feeling well today so I didn't put a lot of effort into this. If I had more energy I would have put up a softbox instead of the umbrella to get cleaner specular highlights.

No reason to stop, unless you want to wind up a popcycle.

Gotta love red ice pops and the way they make your tongue super colored!

The dogs in Yangon are in worse looking shape than the other in SE Asia. I'm not sure why but they seem to be ignored more than in other locations we've explored.
