(Posted by Rachel) Eloise was pretty cranky and I was hellbent on getting the perfect fall picture and was therefore wheedling and cajoling uncooperative children, so Matt basically wound up picking, lugging, and buying 2 pecks of apples by himself.
Poor sweet little house being demolished, no doubt for another obnoxious McMansion. :(
EDIT: It appears this house is being RE-FRAMED rather than demolished.
Despite her eye, she is really active and playful and the more friendly of the two. I actually managed to pick her up last night. She struggled a bit but there was no real panicking.
This is my friends P & S's dog. Poor guy was attacked by wasps or stuck his snout in poison sumac or something. They pulled a tick off his neck this evening... it's not looking good. S has to take the day off work tomorrow to take him to the vet, because he's not getting better. It's unfortunate for her, because she's a teacher, and her last day of work is Friday before she's off for two years for maternity leave.
Poor guy. They doped him up on Benadryl, hoping he can get some sleep.
Update: waiting to get some test results. It's one of two things, either an infection of some sort, which will go away with the antibiotics he's on, or Lupus, which is pretty much fatal for dogs. We're all hoping it's not Lupus. Miles is such a sweetheart.
Update #2: It's clearing up... looks like he's gonna be fine.

I came across this sad picture and felt it was worth passing on.
This poor guy was stuck on the foul pole (at least for like 1.5 hours) at yankees stadium! It peed like 4 times... everytime it peed. some would yell "The Squirrel just peed!" Finally he got enough courage to come down.
Poor little Donovan is sick today. Really sick. Just before rushing to get the kids off to school, I found vomit with what appeared to be a strand from a toy pom-pom in it. I panicked, rushed everyone where they needed to be, and then returned home to more vomit -- this time with blood. Rush my babies to the vet, and realized almost immediately it was Donovan. High fever, listlessness. Oh, no. Inconclusive x-rays. Left him with the docs to run barium through his system with more x-rays. Take a bewildered Simon home, wondering where his brother is. Last call from the doctor indicates barium is most of the way through with no blockage (phew), but he's still feverish and vomiting, despite the Pepcid, IV fluids, and pain meds. Looks like an overnight stay.
Oh, please, oh please oh please let him be okay. He's only been with us a few weeks and he's already our baby ...
Oh yeah -- and those kids are going to get quite a lecture tonight. Argh.
I wanted to make my friend a birthday cake but could not think what to put on it, answer solved when she fell off a platform while helping her husband cut a hedge and badly damage her knee.
He had an operation yesterday. His backteeth were covered in plaque and his gums were swollen. Apparently it is something which happens to older cats, but Wammes is only 2,5 years old.
Also one of his fangs had to be pulled because it was broken off.
This is how he looked yesterday evening, poor boy. Today he is feeling a lot better, but giving him the antibiotics he needs is a true crime!

See that happy, smiling face in the shot?
She is now throwing up:(
I will skip the deets, other than to say that other than in infancy, my 2 big kids have thrown up exactly three times, between the two of them, in 14 years.
Well, that count is up to four now.
And, OMG. Gross.
I have a new respect for parents of pukers and carsick kids.
And I am now instituting a 2 stuffed animal limit in the bed. Cuz I have stripped and am washing 8 build-a-bears and assorted bear sized tutus, sweaters, pompoms and slippers. My Saturday night is rocking:)).
Not so sure about the rest of the hockey tournament tomorrow...fingers crossed for a big recovery.
