Along with athletics, the pool swimmers' competitions are one of the mainstays of the Olympic Games. A total of 35 gold medals will be awarded at Paris 2024: 17 each for women and men, plus one in the mixed relay.
I have literally hundreds of pictures of us just generally titting around in the pool. Only going to skim a small selection from each day though ^^;

ISLAND
Vilamendhoo island is on the south-east edge of the South Ari Atoll. This area has some of the best dive sites in the Maldives. The island is a uniform oval shape and as a result quite samey all the way round. It is not the prettiest island we have ever been to, but it does have everything you ever need on a Maldives holiday, and that counts for a lot.....hence this is our third visit here.
DIVING/SNORKELLING
Vilamendhoo has the best dive centre, the best diving and some of the best snorkelling in the Maldives.....no contest! That is the big selling point of this island, there is a huge amount of diving going on here! When we were there the dive centre was being run by Sonja, she is married to Illy a Maldivian divemaster, an amazing couple. Sonja doesn't dive too much now but Illy is a great guy to dive with. They have two or three dive boats going out every day and the dive sites are spectacular, there is even a manta point on the other side of the atoll. I only did ten dives this time but unfortunately managed to format the SD Card that had most of my dive photo's on so not many dive pic's to put in the album for this holiday!
MEALS
The Maldive islands have no agriculture or industry, they have to import everything so it constantly amazes us how they manage to provide us with such a huge variety of great meals. When we are in the Maldives breakfast is always the best meal of the day and on Vilamendhoo it is no exception. We like to get up around 5:00am for coffee then go out for a run around the island while the sun comes up.....a stunning time of the day! Generally we have the beach to ourselves so it's like having your own private island. After the run we will cool off with a bit of snorkelling in the lagoon or out to the drop off. Cooling off is a relative term considering the water here is around 30 degrees all year round! All that gives you a fantastic appetite, hence our love of breakfast. We stayed at the adults only end of the isl
I like water and having my own swimmin' pool. It happened at Gozo.

Active Assignment Weekly July 25 - August 1: One Moment in Time
WIT: More action from the pool party, just a crop and a bit of colour tweaking in Photoshop.
We got to go to grandma's neighbours pool again today, she left for the weekend and told us that we can use her pool as much as we want to.
My niece and nephews came over to go swimming in the pool. My niece was so brave, and showed up her older brother the whole day doing cannonballs and even learning how to dive. All while her step-father was waiting to catch her each and every time.
We had a little scare at the pool yesterday. We're still teaching our kids how to swim. Normally I'll take one and Jane will take the other, but Jane couldn't find her swimsuit, so it was just me with both girls. They both had the inflatable donuts. But I had them take them off so that I could teach them to swim without them.
First I took Sydney and had her try to doggy paddle. She did good, considering this is the first time I had her try. Then I told her to sit on the steps and stay there while I took Jessie. So I was bringing Jessie out to the deeper area when I heard Jane yell out, "PETE!" When I turned around, Sydney was submerged under the water kicking and thrashing about. She was trying to follow us out there. I quickly got to her and picked her up. She had this scared look on her face. Stupid stupid me. I should have put her donut back on. Good thing Jane was there. That's what they mean by the sign they have posted at the pool that reads, "Children drown without sound. Watch your children carefully."
Later that night I asked Sydney, "So you think you're a big girl now and that you can swim?" She smiled and replied, "Uh huh". I gotta keep my eye on this one. :)
