Morning Glory Pool is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Upper Geyser Basin despite being less beautiful than it once was, since large amounts of rocks and trash have been thrown into the pool by thoughtless visitors, significantly reducing the water temperature. The pool used to be filled by rich blue water, with a narrow ring of orange-yellow bacteria only around the edge; now the water is more greenish and the algae band is much wider. The pool is 20 feet in diameter, 23 feet deep, round and symmetric, with a conical vent at the center, and may be viewed from a raised boardwalk that extends along nearly half its circumference. The spring drains westwards into the Firehole River, 100 feet away. It was named in 1883 for its resemblance in color and shape to the morning glory flower.

A monster lives in my pool. I don’t know how it got there. It only comes out at night.
I first saw it when I went for a swim one night. There it was, lurking in the corner. I was scared witless. I ran away screaming. I did not call the police. Who would believe me?
One morning, I awoke to find my glasses on the back porch. The glasses I had lost in the swimming pool. Somebody had placed a flower beside my glasses.
Later that same day, I left some biscuits by the poolside. Nobody touched them during the day. In the morning, they were gone.
This all happened some weeks ago.
Now I lie awake at night, listening. Waiting and listening in the dark. I like listening in the dark. It’s wonderfully relaxing, to listen in the dark. Waiting for the monster.
I hear the garden door open, gently. I hear naked, wet feet tiptoe towards the kitchen. I hear the fridge door open. I hear the satisfying sound of munching. Isn’t it wonderful?
At night, I don’t bother locking my front door anymore. You’d have to be crazy to break into my house. I have a monster living in my pool. It's in the kitchen right now.

A spot I've shot / posted before but a new perspective due to the changing light - the former Harborne Branch Line at Portland Road bridge.
I captured this image in Rock Creek Park, Washington DC. It was late afternoon and my brother Ed and I were feverishly working to capture the last of the light for the day. I was lucky to capture the reflection of the trees over looking the creek inside a small pool. I used a 1.2 ND filter to allow a 3 sec long exposure to soften the water.
I went for a little Coalcliff action this morning, with Jeff, Dex & Ant. A high tide and big swell made for some interesting times around the pool here.
We had a couple of phases of colour either side of sunrise separated by about 15 minutes of flatness. I took this shot around 10 minutes after the sunrise during the second burst.

The Silent Pool is a spring-fed lake at the foot of the North Downs in Surrey.
It is considered by some to be a sacred site, being linked to a folklore tale which says that King John, on his horse, abducted a woodcutter's daughter, who was forced into the deep water and drowned. According to the legend, the maiden can be seen at the Silent Pool at midnight....

I've had this shot of a coastal tidal pool in mind for a long time. On the morning of the shoot the wind was blowing a gale and the tide was rapidly on the way in. This is not the sharpest picture but i'm pleased with the overall look.
