Shortly before making the thunderous plunge over Horsetail Falls, Horsetail Creek is shot through a narrow crack and exploded out into a large pool in front of a deep recess, which allows a trail to pass behind the falls. This is one of the more favored waterfalls in Oregon for professional photographers, mainly for pictures looking out from behind the falls.

The falls are often called Upper Horsetail Falls, but Ponytail Falls is both more colorful and appears to have been in use longer.

I got a new camera, Fuji X-T1 with a 27mm and 18-135mm lenses. Already owning the X100S, I knew I was going to like this camera too but I have to say it is even more awesome than I expected. I really haven't found any negative sides, even the battery life is decent because I don't use the main display at all like I do with X100s. Why ? It just feels so comfortable to use the viewfinder instead (not so with X100s to me), and all the settings you can possibly adjust have their separate buttons and dials. Easy, quick and convenient. I was a bit bummed about the lack of ND filter (as in X100s) but I suppose that is not possible to implement into a camera with changeable lenses.

One of the coolest experiences for me with this camera is shooting with manual focus -- it is amazing how well the electronic viewfinder works, magnifying the focus area and highlighting the exact focus point.

Fuji makes great cameras, give them a chance if you're looking for new toys :)

Nolina recurvata - ponytail palm (Agavaceae)

It seemed like a pretty tame winter here in Oregon this year, but it had its moments. I'm glad its now spring...

This shot was inspired by Navdogs far superior shot from a while back. I had plans to go to another fall but had to go into work that morning :( Thank goodness for co-workers who noticed me pulling my hair out as I watched the sunrise from the breakroom :) Big ups for Cher who finished out my shift so I could get some shooting in :) Thank goodness the Gorge is so close with so many gorgeous falls that even if your running late you can still make it in time to get some good exposures. Walter and I met Ron www.flickr.com/photos/plastictubing/ for a quick jaunt up to Ponytail. The gorge definately isn't spring ready but it sure beats workin the weekends :) Happy Waterfall Wednesday :)

This is my beautiful number four Barbie wearing a somewhat faded "swingin easy" dress. She was waiting for some time in the spotlight.

For the oiled hair fans...

These are my latest reroots and for some reason I'm in a high ponytail mood, so I thought I'd snap a pic of these two. These girls are also friends being that Skai's Dad is the one who discovered Adrianna.

Barbie is wearing a wonderful dress I purchased on Etsy. I had to have that fabric!
