Candid of a tot at Lonsdale Quay dancing exuberantly to some Andean flute music. She had very smooth, straight hair, but was dancing so wildly that it poofed out crazily!! Shot from the hip so I didn't look like a stalker. LOL
When you are the younger sister it must be so frustrating to get the hand-me-downs all the time. I have tried to make amends.
Ok, it is left over fabric from big sisters Picnic Top but that's alright, it is still new.
I used a basic pinafore shape and redrafted the shoulders to look like the Tea Party dress.

Shot for Strobist Boot Camp Assignment II. First time shooting with food! Lit with one speedlight from above through a diy "lunch box." Had a little bit of window light coming through the side as well.
Overall, a delicious day of shooting.
I took the Polka dot challenge today. Polka dots are not in my stash, but then I realized that I had leftover Spring/Easter fabrics, leftover scraps from my classroom stitching, and I had the leftover scraps from a black and white challenge . The biggest piece was the blue polka dot fabric which was a fat quarter impulse buy. That meant that would be the background piece. I got the long thin 1/4/ yard green polka dot fabric for a baby quilt, but it didn't match the sagey greens well, and the two pink polka dot and sage green polka dot used for the trees are swatches from the corners of fabric I am making the baby quilt with. What to do? Then I realized the blue matched the crazy quilt learning piece I'd made years ago and had hoped to sew into a sewing machine cover. The aim was in a few hours make a sewing machine cover. I didn't want to spend time hand stitching as this was a half a day play date with myself. The house was born, the trees followed, the sun scrap fabric was unearthed from a long ago orange and yellow challenge. I spent more time looking for the polka dotted fabric in my craft room than I did stitching the piece. Good thing I'd redone my craft area, I knew where to look and was able to put things away again nicely! Tah Dah! A whimsical piece all made from polka dotted fabrics, my play date made my day!
I finally finished my Polka Dot Sampler a few weeks ago. I got it back from the long arm quilter in the summer and it took me forever to do the binding. In total, it took me about a year and a half to finish this quilt. Now that it's finished, I can't for the life of me understand why as the quilt turned out so great.
The back is made out of Amy Butler's Lotus fabrics.
