Alex Polari, padrinho do Santo Daime, Amsterdã

These look very badass from the front but I still haven't decided about the rear view.

I met Polaris today, we talked, we took photos, he gave me eyebrows!!

Spotted on the northwest side.

This is a piss poor pic, but I always wanted to try this, so when I was up north of Duluth and spending the night in my car in Split Rock Lighthouse State Park, I finally gave it a go. It was a cold clear moonless night, I found Polaris with my eyes easy enough, but try seeing it in the dim view-finder. It was very dark in there. So, I guessed and made a few exposures. This one was the longest, though obviously not long enough. And I coulda swore I focused out to infinity (wouldn't you think the stars would warrant infinity?) but it sure looks out of focus. Of course the camera was on a tripod but it was a little breezy so maybe that's it.

The term "the Pole Star" usually refers to Polaris, which is the current northern pole star, also known as the North Star. While other stars' apparent positions in the sky change throughout the night, as they appear to rotate around the celestial poles, pole stars' apparent positions remain essentially fixed. This makes them especially useful in celestial navigation: they are a dependable indicator of the direction toward the respective geographic pole, and their angle of elevation can also be used to determine latitude.

I've tried to capture this using a 40D, 10mm, F9.0, ISO 800, 28 minute exposure.

As you can see the other stars seem to rotate around the North Star.

Colocou mta empresa grande no bolso! :D

This is capable of carrying two nuclear warheads and would of been used had the Cold War descended into World War III!

Two more pics taken at the RAF Museum will be here on Thursday ;)

Latest recolour of the Polaris Slingshot which makes its debut in the new Blue Highways III five vehicle set. Theres very little to the real vehicle and certainly even less in Matchbox form! ;-p

Found at Tesco.

Mint and boxed.

I am not advertising for Polaris, but I was intrigued by the three wheeler when in pulled parked near me in the local Walgreen parking lot. Normal for me I ask to take a couple pictures, and he obliged with a little conceited voice. I did not linger and later googled it. It is a Polaris three wheeler motor cycle with a 2.4 liter GM Motor. Price sticker is between $20,000 and $25,000 according to accessories. Licensed as a motor cycle, so in Helmet require states that is necessary, not air bags, and very little safety features.

Usei:

O brilho do Polaris tb é bem legal.

Estou torcendo mtoooooo pra alguma empresa grande contratar a Kelly pra produzir essas maravilhas em grande escala pra deixar as meninas do Brasil inteiro felicíssimas! :D

Eu super recomendo, viu meninas?!?

Mk 2 Re-entry body (RB)

A Re-entry Body (RB) or Re-entry Vehicle (RV) is a section of a ballistic missile in which contain the missiles warheads. Once all the other stages of the missile have separated the RB or RV will return to the atmosphere and release its warheads. The Mk 2 Re-entry body was a part of the A-3 Polaris Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) which was deployed in U.S. Navy ballistic missile submarines between 1964 and 1981. The Mk 2 RB was armed with three W-58 warheads. The A-3 Polaris had a range of nearly 3,000 miles.

The A-3s became operational aboard the USS Daniel Webster (SSBN 626) on September 24, 1964. The last A-3 patrol ended when the USS Robert E. Lee (SSBN 601) returned to her base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on October 1, 1981

Taken with Celestron NexStar 6 SE Telescope, with Barlow Lens, & Nikon D90 Camera.

It is a multiple star, consisting of a main star, Polaris A (a yellow white supergiant), a dwarf companion, Polaris Ab (not visible), and another small star, Polaris B (top right).
