On Point
by Emma Ball
An original intuitive abstract painting. I let the viewer create their own story for a painting. What do you see? What do you feel? What you see is the truth, let your imagination run wild without being given direction. This series is painted on heavy duty acid free artists paper. They are sold unframed but will fit into a standard size frame.
Unframed 25cm x 35cm I use the highest quality acrylic paints and combined techniques of palette knife, brushes, scrapers. Each painting is carefully packaged by me.

This is a lighthouse on Fort Worden on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State.
I'm a huge fan of lighthouses and I'm thinking of starting to make a concentrated effort to shoot every one that I can get to every time I travel. I guess this makes this my first entry into my next project...
Last weekend, my wife and I went to Point Lobos, a state — maybe national — reserve park near Carmel California. Although the day was not perfect for shooting, we went decided to shoot in RAW and using the super simplified zone system.
As you can see on the EXIF meta-data, I set the exposure compensation to -2EV and the metering mode to partial (spot). Then, before composing the image, I measure the light in the darkest area I wanted to retain detail of, then I adjusted the focal length and finally I recomposed and take the pic.
I did get some little overexposed dots but I liked the overall detail. This is my first attempt on Photowalkthrough.com-techniques and landscapes. I hope you guys like it.
Taken from Musick Point looking west. I have never noticed the tower left of the sun before in all the times I have been to Musick Point.
With Point Hicks and the Lighthouse in the far distance. Although named by Captain Cook as Point Hicks, the name was changed by a Surveyor in 1843 to Cape Everard and then changed back again by Sir Henry Bolte the Victorian Premier at a bicentennial ceremony on the 20th April 1970.
From Wikipedia;
It was Captain Cook’s practice to reward the first person to sight land with a gallon of rum, plus the distinction of having a place named after him, although that place was not necessarily the feature first seen. On this occasion, the prize fell to Lieutenant Zachary Hicks who called out “Land ho” when he saw “land making high” in the hinterland of Australia’s south coast" Lieutenant Hicks died a year later before the Endeavour returned to England from a "Consumptive illness" so maybe he never recovered from that gallon of Rum.
The largest town in West Marin, Point Reyes Station was established after the North Pacific Coast Railroad in 1874 for some reason not yet uncovered, moved past the town of Olema to drop its passengers off in the middle of nowhere. The area is a popular foodie spot for fresh local ingredients.
