Kevin is an 18 month old Weisler/pointer cross from a rescue home.He belongs to my friend Traci who is a dog trainer...Kevin is as daft as a brush! This shot was taken on a cold afternoon at Harlech Beach.
Wrong lens selection on my Leica M10, this shot was obviously taken with my Lomography Atoll 17mm f2.8.
Piper is a 3 month old German Shorthaired Pointer puppy. She looks quite at home in the forest during our hike in Crum Woods in Swarthmore, PA!

Nutmeg, the 10-year-old German Short-haired Pointer I sometimes dog sit, is incredibly intense! If I want her to look into the camera, I have to use treats - which results in her getting HYPERintense and looking like she's about to pounce on a lion! This was one rare moment where she calmly looked right into the camera ... ever so briefly! I didn't have enough time to really focus on the eyes, but I'm happy I caught it at all! She's a pretty girl.

by the way, this is the boy that is "highly" allergic to dogs. ;) ... always knew my girl was special.

So, this is a first at using a macro lens! In all honesty, I found this very difficult to get the hang of.. I struggle with balancing an appropriate DOF, and making sure that I don't compromise for a slow shutter-speed; all without a tripod! Any help and pointers would be very welcome!
Also, I wouldn't mind some help with recommendations for potential macro lenses for us, Nikon DX-users...

EXPLORED (Jun 20, 2013, #316 and dropped). I had no idea this was explored until Feb 2014 (almost 9 mths later). I did wonder why the large amount of views & favs for a very average image. Its certainly nothing special at all (even to the point I wasn't sure if it was even "flickr worthy").

Ipswich Reds Dennis Dart SLF Plaxton Pointer 2 SN55 CXF pauses at Bucklesham School working the 179 service from Ipswich to Waldringfield. This route takes in Kirton and Falkenham and the narrow country lanes through Newbourne to the shore of the river Deben at Waldringfield. Unfortunatley this 15 year old Dart will transfer to Lowestoft in the near future. A pity it is just the right vehicle for this route.

This individual will let me watch him or her hunt for awhile when I come by if I sit down and face away.

i'm having to rewire my brain in regards to shooting in snow again ... for matea, overexposure is the only way.
Alpha Centauri and Beta Centauri (Hadar) are sometimes called the Southern Pointer Stars. They point to the Southern Cross. The Southern Cross is distinctive in its own right, but, if you're in the Southern Hemisphere and want to be sure you've found the Cross, these two stars can help you. The Milky Way arm is just around them in the southern celestial sky.
