I thought these were mushrooms at first -- it was hard to tell whether something was breaking free or growing alongside them. I haven't identified these yet. A wider shot, with a definite shoot emerging from one of the pods, is here.

Found on a beach in Costa Rica.
Pod is about 600mm long and weighs about 250g. Contains extraordinary seeds that have twin colours (like medicine capsules).
Hidden: Due to effort required to pry open the pod.
This Osprey was seen eating that pod and carrying it around. When one pod fell down from its claws, it went and got another.
This pod was at the end of a long bar that had a conveyor belt which carries sushi around to whomever picks it up. These people had it set to purple all night...
me and my new poppy pod... i like the way it looks, and the way it sounds when you shake it. i could have fallen asleep right there if i shut my eyes.
I know this is not a flattering photo of Sistine who is truly a lovely person. It's just that diner matzah ball soup has strange effects on people!
I have the climbing gym to thank for so many wonderful friends. It's strange to me that we share the gym with many people with whom we will exchange a hello from time to time. This may go on for months or years. And, then one random day, our circle of friends shares a meal with another and we realize what wonderful people they are! Circles overlap and lines continue to blur. This sort of thing brings such flavor to day-to-day life. Kinda like a bland matzah ball that derives its flavor from the pool of chicken broth that bathes it. Just gotta hope you get plunked into GOOD chicken broth!
