Pod - London Eye - London

I thought these were pods from the Franklinea tree - which has a very interesting history. But they're not. They're pods from the Mountain Silverbell tree, Halesia monticola.

These pods remind me somewhat of soybeans. But they are the seeds from a wildflower growing in the Miller Ecological Park sunflower patch in Lebanon, Ohio. I have not been able to identify the wildflower, but it is likely a member of the legumes.

About 20cm wide & long.

Apparently these pods come from trees that produce the most beautiful flowers of South Taiwan. But we were not in season for those...
