Norlene is getting married next weekend to a very lucky guy.
The workplace can be a hostile environment or a joy, and the souls who are your "partners in crime" play such a big role in determining the quality of your day. I appreciate the smiles and laughs that Norlene interjects into the often-present hecticness...I wish her much happiness on her wedding day.
I also took note today of the event organized by staff to celebrate this happy occasion. There was cake and pizza...but, perhaps most importantly, there were colleagues there to share in the joy. In the day where people strive for anonymity, passing each other on the street without even a simple hello, it was touching to see individuals take such an interest in others' lives (in a happy way...not that silly behind-the-back water cooler whispering rumors & speculation gossipy kind of way).
So, I wake up most mornings looking forward to the workday ahead...mostly for the people by whom I will be surrounded, and not just for the toys.

Na manhã da quarta-feira, 7/12, foram premiados estudantes dos ensinos Fundamental e Médio do Rio Grande do Sul que se destacaram com trabalhos inscritos no Prêmio Fala (Formando Adolescentes na Luta Antiviolência), edição 2016. O evento faz parte do programa Formando Gerações, uma iniciativa do Memorial do Judiciário do Rio Grande do Sul e da Corregedoria-Geral da Justiça. Há 13 anos, este programa do Poder Judiciário se dedica à ações culturais e pedagógicas voltadas a difundir práticas e conceitos relativos aos direitos da cidadania, da criança e do adolescente, com a finalidade de combater a violência doméstica e familiar contra a mulher.

POD 158 Another visit to Riverbend Park. Last time I visted was back in ???. The trees were bare and brown. This phtography exercise is making me much more aware of the changes in nature through the year.

Here is the future of glass houses, with electronically controlled glass to provide light or shade for your living areas. The #photonproject is currently ongoing and aims to study the benefits of living with constant natural light!

A loaner from Kate. Both of us really liked this sling. The body is very generous and the straps and incredibly comfortable.
Inside the 3 story Overstrand building which houses the pods which can be let out.
The building was originally completed in 1958 and was designed by either John Burton the Bournemouth Borough Architect or Elizabeth Scott or even both.
In 2008 the building was redeveloped with the two story section housing the upstairs toilets knocked out and a new Overstrand Restaurant in it's place. The toilets relocated to the promenade with new showers also provided a refurbished beach office and shops and food.
This building is one of the last Streamlined type building to be built in Britain and a later addition to the 'Modern Movement'
