Concilio gótico, Blondie 2012.

I can't remember what flowers these had been.

Brackets are better fixed and aligned and now with repaired o/s pod. The hinge mounting plates on this has corroded and broken, ones from a scrap pod have been fettled and fibreglassed in, the firm that did this work also sprayed the pod red.

A standard shuttle pod that is flexible for all sorts of missions.

I tried to add just enough red to make it interesting. This build all started with the blue windshield. I like how the windshield is large enough to give a good view of the inside.

My first proper mech. I liked the idea of a completely sealed cockpit as in the Evangelion series, so I went ahead and designed my own. The cockpit pod is removeable (see video), and both the hatch and the neck are sprung with elastic bands to make it a bit more tactile. Somewhat poseable legs, though it only has 2 positions it can stand in.

I have developed a building standard called "Alice-proof". This means that if placed in front of my flatmate Alice, it takes her longer than 90 seconds to break it. This is the first model in a long time that passed that test.

When the Podgun first came out some voiced concerns that it looked to much like the Needler from Halo. I would like to take this time to assure those doubters that there are many differences between this and the Needler. One thing I have noticed about this gun is that its hard to use this gun for anything aside from what it was meant to be, someday when I get a matching pair I will use them as crab claws.

Pods – also known as self-directed work teams – have been around for more than 20 years. Pods are 30% to 50% more effective than their traditional counterparts. A survey of senior line managers offers some of the benefits derived from implementing self-directed teams:

Improved quality, productivity and service.

Greater flexibility.

Reduced operating costs.

Faster response to technological change.

Fewer, simpler job classifications.

Better response to workers’ values.

Increased employee commitment to the organization.

Ability to attract and retain the best people.

So if it’s such a great idea to go podular, why aren’t more companies doing it?

Podular design is a concept that focuses on modularizing work: making units more independent, adaptive, linkable, and swappable. But the environment that surrounds the pods is equally critical to the success or failure of a podular system. Modular components are a critical element of a connected company. But to take advantage of pods you also need a business that is designed to support them.

The future is podular.

W XVI w. Czchów zasłynął dzięki Franciszkowi Lismaninowi, franciszkaninowi i spowiednikowi królowej Bony, który zagarnął bogate probostwo czchowskie i został zwolennikiem reformacji. Czchów podupadł w czasie najazdu szwedzkiego i rozbiorów, a ostatecznie utracił prawa miejskie w 1930 r.

Tę kamienną, jednonawową świątynię zbudowano ok. 1346 r., powiększono w 1430 r., a w wieku XIX rozebrano wieżę, na jej miejscu wznosząc neogotycką fasadę.

Pierwsza wzmianka o nim pochodzi dopiero z 1356 r. Później, w wiekach XVI i XVII, zamkiem dysponował sąd czchowski, który ulokował tutaj więzienie. Od XVIII w. budowla pozostawała w ruinie, dopiero w latach 90. XX w. przeprowadzono badania i prace archeologiczne oraz konserwatorskie. Dzięki nim wiadomo, jak wyglądała warownia. Jej głównym akcentem jest murowana z kamiennych ciosów, okrągła wieża o wysokości ok. dwudziestu ośmiu metrów, włączona w biegnący krawędzią wzgórza mur obwodowy. Wewnątrz zbudowanego z kamiennych ciosów muru pozostały widoczne ślady prostokątnego budynku i przylegającej doń sieni. W zamku urządzono niewielką ekspozycję archeologiczną oraz taras widokowy.

Czchów

Castle and Church

Upon the hill on the banks of the Dunajec river lies Czchów – once an important city, and today a quiet holiday resort. Known in written records as Schov, it had been developing since the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries thanks to the Hungarian route that passed through it. The town was chartered on the power of Środa Law in 1333, and transferred to Magdeburg law in 1355 by Casimir the Great. In the 16th century Czchów became famous thanks to Franciszek Lismanin, a Franciscan friar and confessor to Queen Bona. Lismanin appropriated the rich Czchów parish and became a follower of the reformation. Czchów saw a period of gradual decline during the Swedish attacks and the Partitions of Poland, and finally lost its town status in 1930. Soon, the construction of the dam across the Dunajec (1938-1949) resulted in the construction of the Czchowskie Reservoir.

In one of the streets starting at the corner of the square stands the parish church of Virgin Mary’s Birth. This stone, one-nave temple was built around 1346, extended in 1430, and in the 19th century its tower was dismantled and replaced with a neo-Gothic façade. Each century, and every style, left their mark here. In the ground level of the church, Romanesque relics are found. In the walls of the cross-rib vaulted chancel 14th-century scenes from the life of Mary and Christ were painted, and the Renaissance tombstones are attributed to Hieronimus Canavesi. The painting of Madonna with Child in the main altar dates back to the 17th century, while the neo-Gothic side altars were made in the early 1900s.

Not far from the town, in a hill called Baszta, a fortified castle was built in the 13th and 14th centuries, protecting the duty collection point by the Dunajec river. The castle was first mentioned in writing as late as 1356. Later, in the 16th and 17th centuries, the castle was used by the Czchów municipal court, and a prison was placed in it. Since the 18th century the building had laid in ruin – until the 1990s, when archaeological work and conservation research were conducted. Thanks to this work we know what the fortress must have looked like. Its dominant element was a round stone tower, approximately 28 metres tall, incorporated into the outer wall that followed the hill’s ridge. Inside the wall, built with blocks of stone, we can see traces of a rectangular building, with an adjoining entrance hall. A viewing platform was recently built and a small archaeological exhibition created inside.

Gostei mto dele, viu?

Artist team, Pedro Villalta and Montserrat Daubón created Giant Pod for the median just north of 124th Street on Lenox Avenue. The seed pod is a simple and elegant organic shape representing new growth and reflects the artistic revitalization of this Harlem neighborhood. Villalta and Daubón, who met at the Art Students League of New York, both live and work in Harlem. The artists view public art as a bridge – a tangible mode of community outreach that encourages reaction and interaction.

The large, hollow metal sculpture measures 10 feet high and is 3 feet at its widest diameter. It has been given a rough surface texture and is highlighted with bronze. The project is presented in partnership with the Mount Morris Park Community Association.

This image of a seed pod was taken last week while we still had a good covering of icy snow. I think it is a dogwood seed pod, but it might also be a magnolia. Both planted in that area.

Captured with iPhone 5s, and Olloclip macro lens. It was edited on the iPad with snapseed.
