Inside the 3 story Overstrand building which houses the pods which can be let out.
The building was originally completed in 1958 and was designed by either John Burton the Bournemouth Borough Architect or Elizabeth Scott or even both.
In 2008 the building was redeveloped with the two story section housing the upstairs toilets knocked out and a new Overstrand Restaurant in it's place. The toilets relocated to the promenade with new showers also provided a refurbished beach office and shops and food.
This building is one of the last Streamlined type building to be built in Britain and a later addition to the 'Modern Movement'
Seed pod of Broad-leaved willowherb (Epilobium montanum).
This is the same photo as the original "Pod Burst". I've edited it and uploaded just to replace my entry in the welshflickrcymru competition for July. It is a slightly tighter crop and I have done a "curves" adjustment. My first ever attempt at this!

POD 164 - I've been keeping my eye on this bottle of Fini balasamic vinager for a while. I've been visulaizing the lighting through the smoky glass and the emobssed seal (griffin?) I'm happy with the result.
These pods have been falling for the last week or two. We had a particularly hot day yesterday, and it seems to have accelerated this process.
My buddy, Alan, and I officially launched "Embrace Photography" today, our children's portrait endeavor, with a shoot with Christian and his mom, Nancy. It was a wonderful day to spend a little time in the park. We took much effort to find suitable locations and create pleasing compositions. There has been many a hour spent studying books on the topic. But, it was this spontaneous moment that was my favorite...one that I believe captures this lovely family perfectly.
I'll Be soon a Pod Lady!
My Hubbie decided I should have one! He Allready have the video one, and love it. So as It's a mc boy, as I'm a trendy girl, It's an OBLIGATION, I had to have it (for Him I was only thinking of maybe some day buy one, He gave me no choice).
So I Think my only choice was to accept my destiny, and get this sexy pink pod.
can't wait to accessorise it! :-p
by the way thanks again honey!

I got my camera back from the Nikon Repair Center. It's been a long time since it looked so clean! I guess I've put it through its paces in the most hostile of environments. I suppose it was only fair that it got to go to the "camera spa".
And now that my camera is all shiny again, I figured the studio would be the best place to give it a test run. It played happily with the studio strobes, light meters, and radio transmitters. But, hopefully I'll be back in the field with it soon...freezing on mountains and melting in deserts. And, we'll both be dirty again...the way we were meant to be.
Meet Lucas...
It was such as pleasure to see Marcia, Sebastian, Arianna, and Tobby again...and it was nice to meet Lucas for the first time. This handsome boy decided to enter our World 6 weeks ago, bring sleepless nights to his parents, but also a wealth of joy to all those around. I couldn't help but to spend most of this morning's portrait shoot smiling...a smile that lingered for the rest of the day.
So, welcome to the World, Lucas. I'm sure you will continue to make a large impact on it!
