Another rainy day and just hanging out. Hope you enjoy this great oldie by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong:
The houses of the Onyar, also called houses of the River or hung houses, are those that have the facades that give to the river Onyar in the section of the Rambla and the street Argenteria of the old helmet of Girona. As a whole, they make up a work included in the Inventory of Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.
The facades facing the River Onyar on the stretch of the Rambla and Argenteria, offer interest in the spontaneity of the continued growth of the buildings on the west side of the Rambla, built as re-construction of the old constructions on the wall, basically made during the Last century. The set presents diversity of volumes, most built flying over the river as galleries. In them, the emptiness over the plenum and the horizontal openings predominates, although the carpentries with mullions every 70 or 80 cm limit that feeling of horizontality in the composition. Basically they are wood and glass closures and roller shutters. In general, they are houses with a narrow bay that do not follow the same alignment and therefore maintain a diversity of volumes and considerable gaps.

Alicja Kwade: Entitas
"The work of Berlin-based artist Alicja Kwade repeatedly explores a transferral of scientific questioning into artistic concepts. Her exhibition ENTITAS offers poetic, intuitively comprehensible responses to the conundrum of what transpires in the invisible plenums of knowledge; what is it that happens between two blinks of an eye, between two glances?
Kwade’s exhibition title ENTITAS (Latin: entity) alludes to enquiries about the essence of things: what is the world made of? And further even: what information is available for us to attempt an answer to this question?
Extending into the space of the room, the installation “Die bewegte Leere des Moments” [The Moving Emptiness of the Moment] is central to the exhibition. It was created for Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt in 2015 and consists of two objects—a colossal stone and a copper station clock—that orbit above the heads of the visitors; motion is rendered perceptible as a draft. Enhanced by loudspeakers, both the ticking of the clock and the sound of the stone cutting through the air are audible. Time is passing. The composition as a whole evokes the basic functions of human existence: heartbeat and breathing. In that way the objects, their protons and electrons, revolve around an ever elusive center, indicating the very interspace that appears to us as emptiness." www.koeniggalerie.com/exhibitions/15194/entitas/
Back after several short holidays. New images and locations to come soon!

1971 Ford Mach 1 Mustang Fastback
One of the most recognizable features of the 1971–1973 Mach 1 is the hood design with dual scoops. The hood was a no-cost option on the 302 cars and standard on all others. The basic hood had non-functional NACA-style submerged ducts, but when ordered with the Ram Air option, it became functional. It included a vacuum-controlled door inside each scoop, and a fiberglass under-hood 'plenum' that directed cool, outside air through a modified, rubber-ringed air filter housing and into the carburetor. Ram-air also included a pair of 1970 Mach1-style chrome twist hood locks and a two-tone hood paint treatment in either 'matte black' or 'argent' (matte silver), which coordinated with the decals and striping. The option also received either a "351 RAM AIR" or "429 RAM AIR" decal on each side of the hood.
Le Secret is
What you are basically, deep deep down, far far in, is simply the fabric and structure of existence itself. Reality itself is gorgeous, it is the plenum, the fullness of total joy. Wowee! And all those stars, if you look out in the skies, is a fireworks display, like you see on the 4th of July, which is a great occasion for celebration. The universe is a celebration. It is a fireworks show to celebrate that existence is. Wowee.
This is the real secret of life: to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now, and instead of calling it "work," realize that this is play.

Various Land impact
Asbestos-containing spray-applied fireproofing shown above a suspended ceiling system with friable, delaminated debris on top of the ceiling panels. This particular soft, fluffy material contains approx. 35% chrysotile asbestos.
In this building, the entire area above the suspended ceiling system is utilized as an air plenum, whereby large volumes of air movement are continually recirculated through the space and redistributed to building occupants via the HVAC system. In addition to this, the small dots shown on the backside of the suspended ceiling panels (non-ACM cellulose/perlite/fiberglass tile) are actually small hole perforations that were designed to allow conditioned air movement through the panels. Any chance for microscopic airborne asbestos fibers to migrate through to occupied areas?
Asbestos survey quantities should also include estimates of the extra surface areas impacted by such delaminated debris and subsequent contamination as well as areas of "over-spray". Further, building occupants, especially maintenance personnel should be informed of the liklihood of encountering asbestos debris if servicing components above the suspended ceiling plane, in addition to receiving appropriate levels of asbestos training if working in proximity to asbestos materials (a written Operations & Maintentance Plan; "O & M").
Folks wouldn't normally expect to find significantly damaged asbestos materials in their very own workplace, inside a return-air plenum just feet above their heads, hidden from view by a suspended ceiling system...or would they?
This particular pipe insulation material has four distinct layers: two layers that contain asbestos and two that don't. The thin black-felt inner liner and the outer grey paper underneath the canvas, contain asbestos. The brown, thick, perforated mid-layers and thin outer canvas are cellulose-based and do not contain asbestos.
This pipe insulation material was designed to insulate colder pipe systems to prevent sweating or condensation, such as on the pictured galvanized cold water pipe.
Similar pipe insulation material, with a thin asbestos felt liner, has also been known as: "Duplex". Sampling this type of pipe insulation has been known to be problematic for less experienced surveyors/inspectors, sometimes missing the thin asbestos felt layer below the dense bulk of the non-asbestos cellulose layers.
