My version of the Lonsdale Dress! Made from a sweet polka dot linen from my stash that I've been dying to use. Hop on over to my blog post to read more about how I did it.

Playdate dress in vintage fabric. I'm not sure what size this is....2?

Oliver + S Playdate Dresses in Michael Miller Kitties (size 8) and Smitten Kitten (size 6) - yokes and piping in Kona cotton solids. Buttons from Hobby Lobby.

I was surprised and disappointed with the finishing for join of the dress to the yoke. I find it unusual for Oliver+S patterns not to have top-notch finishing but the instruction for this one leave the dress top raw. I also don't like what I'll call the "blind" placement of the yoke - just laying it on top of the dress and trying to match up edges. I have never encountered such a method and it makes it difficult to align things.

My strategy for finishing the inside was to turn the piping into bias tape, encasing the top in the bias tape/piping. I will note that the piping curled up - I don't know if the curling was a result of turning the piping into bias tape or if it would have curled regardless. I tacked it down by hand stitching the bottom layer of the outer piping through the dress and to the wrapped around piping/tape layers on the inside.

Because I used a bias tape method, there is some overlapping at the shoulder, but I preferred this to leaving the top inside of the dress flopping around unfinished.

Aimee and Keri invited Kiba and I over for a playdate following our Sunday walk around Lake Harriet. Kiba was glad for the opportunity to do zoomies in an honest-to-goodness fenced yard, and then cool her toes in the pool. Momma was grateful for the berry-flavored margarita that Aimee made.

The dress is based on the Play Date dress tutorial at Craftiness is Not Optional.
