Japanese train (or train related) personnel always looks so good, with many types of uniforms and ornaments
Opening day. Sadly, the platform staff and indicators believed this train to be going to London Victoria, but that train went from Platform 2, with no announcement of a platform alteration. With no on-board supervisor on this train (in spite of Southern's assurances that all trains would have one, apparently this train is scheduled not to!) everyone was in the dark about where it was going, until it put in what we took to be unsheduled stops at Merstham etc., where it was advertised on the platforms as for London Bridge, as indeed it transpired it was once we asked platform staff at East Croydon. So clearly some operational teething problems to be resolved!
Witnesses of the past, such giant trees will always greet us at any metre gauge station to pronounce tales of the beautiful days gone by...

Waiting for the 17:22 train to arrive so I could be in Norwich to meet Emma and Jack off the London train after their weekend away before we went off to The Birdcage to see the Barefeet Record launch.

There's a bit of a problem and the fireman who was dropping the teddies is now stuck aloft on the aerial platform (okay, he could come down the ladder0 and for some reason they can't get it back down to the ground.

at the tokyo station, you had to wait behind these metal sliding gates for the train, which opened up only when the train was at the platform. the kyoto station did not have these gates.
