Black 5 45232 has pulled up at Platform 2 at Bristol Temple Meads with a passenger train. The engine is leaking steam badly. There appears to be a heavy frost on the sleepers, which could date the photo to December 24, 1963, when 45232 brought in the 3.00 am from Leeds (1V28) into Bristol.

Yesterday, we and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel opened the new east platform and unveiled artwork in the new stationhouse, now fully open, as part of the $203 million reconstruction of the Wilson Red Line station and adjacent tracks.
The opening marks a major milestone in the transformational project for the Uptown community and is a significant investment in enhancing rail service for riders who use this station and ride trains through the area!
New enhancements at Wilson include:
- The new main stationhouse, located on the south side of Wilson Avenue, is equipped with two elevators, two escalators, wider stairwells and additional turnstiles, making the station accessible to riders with disabilities (and more convenient and nicer station)
- A second new, modern station entrance is now open on the north side of Wilson
- Purple Line Express trains now serve the station in both directions, adding a new transfer point between Red Line and Purple Line Express services between Howard and Belmont
- New art in the main stationhouse by world-renowned engineer, architect and artist Cecil Balmond
- Two island platforms serving all four tracks instead of one for the center track
- Relocated track columns at street and sidewalk level to greatly improve visibility for pedestrians as well as vehicular and bicycle traffic
The new artwork, also unveiled yesterday, known as Arpeggio, is a multi-faceted sculpture suspended from the main stationhouse enhanced by a reflective wall and LED lighting. When you pass through, be sure to make note of the strong geometric shapes of the artwork as light is reflected to create the feel of continuous movement. The artwork celebrates the 1920’s Art Deco style found in Uptown’s historic architecture, and echoes the look of the Gerber Building across the street.
Work continues on the overall station project including upcoming track reconfiguration what will restore the use of all four tracks (inbound trains still share one track pending track work coming soon) as well as work to open additional access to the station at Sunnyside and restoration work of the Gerber building's façade, including the historic clock tower at the corner of Wilson/Broadway.

Myoden Station in Chiba Prefecture, on the Tozai Subway Line. This is where I crawl off a train at 7.50 in the morning to start a day's work, and where I hop, skip and jump onto a train at 4.15 in the afternoon, ready to submerge into a book for an hour on the way home. First roll with my brand new secondhand T2.
