Vandals pushed a wheelie bin on to this footbridge and set it on fire. The treads are a special fireproof plastic, but the heat was so intense it charred them ... the ones that weren't covered in melted plastic.
The Scotland in Bloom judges were due, so a repair party was quickly convened and we scraped down the railings and repainted them, plus prised off some of the plastic.
In this pic Tony is whacking the axe-head with a sledgehammer to get the plasic off. The hammer head kept flying off - "Handle needs soaking in a bucket of water," said Tony. No-one was hurt, but I did stop painting that side of the railings (I was standing on a rock in the burn).
The council is going to replace the treads with metal ones. Vandals nil, community 10.

i messed up my juicer making this juice. i didn't screw it down tight enough which caused the dome to have a crack in it now and i managed to shave some of the plasic from the dome off. no clue how it did that in a matter of seconds, but.......yeah.......at least for now it is still working.
Saligo Bay was my favourite beach on Islay.
I spent several hours doing a beach clean-up & collected 5 bin liners full of rubbish- mostly plasic.
Most of the plastic disintigrates well over time and breaks down into very small particles, but I will always have the vision of a dissected Albatross in my mind, with an abdomen full of discarded colourful plastic, that it's parents had fed to it- seen in National Geographic!

As much as I have issues with where I live, the scenery is beautiful. Driving up to my house is like riding through a scene in Snow White...I've literally been told that anyway.
