The countryside (Carpathian plain) near Kalosca. Horses, longhorn cattle, riders, schmaltz, and fun. It was a beautiful day.
Plain can be just as beautiful as vibrant color.
"My child, don't lose sight of common sense and discernment.
Hang on to them, for they will refresh your soul.
They are like jewels on a necklace.
They keep you safe on your way, and you feet will not stumble.
You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly.
You need not be afraid of sudden disater or destruction that comes upon the wicked,
for the Lord iis your security.
He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap."
Proverbs 3:21-26
I wasn't feeling too good about myslef tonight, so I decided to read the bible. And God showed me the answer to all my worries. I can say I feel a lot more comforted knowing he's there for me.
It's been a long time since my last upload and I'm really just trying to get back into the shooting mood. Going to get myself a copy of Lightroom soon so here's to a boom in uploads.
This shot is one I took more than a year ago. My friend asked me to take photos of him and his friends. We couldn't find a decent background to shoot in front of, though, so we had to use this plain wall.

St Mary's at Morton Bagot is easily missed, hidden down a rural lane with only a farm for company. The church is still used for occasional services but is otherwise normally kept locked.
The building is Norman in origin (surviving window in nave north wall) but much altered in the following centuries. Regardless it remains a humble two-cell structure capped with a (precariously leaning) saddle-backed timber bell turret.
Inside is a fine 1950s east window by Hardman's of Birmingham and two tiny patches of ancient wall painting, but the finest antiquity here is the c1500 prayer desk by the altar (not original to the church).

"The Davies Plain Hut was originally built by the Gibson family which many local cattlemen used in 1939, but the last cattle were run and grazed here in 1956. John Gibson was the first lease and took up the lease of the land in 1892 on Block A5. The hut is constructed of Woollybutt logs, with a steep gable tin roof and weatherboards. Inside the hut, there is a dirt floor, with a large fireplace to one end. In more recent years the hut was been substantially rebuilt in about 1995, and a wood store has been added at the end of the hut. "
This very bold and vocal fellow showed us no fear. He allowed me to capture his macho display for several moments. I may have left a little bit of trail mix behind as a reward, not something I would normally do, but he worked for it. Shot with a 70-200mm f/2.8 Nikkor.
The youngest member of the leopard frog family in Illinois, the plains leopard frog was was not differentiated from its cousin the northern leopard frog until 1974. Perhaps tired of being overlooked, this anuran tries to set itself apart from its close relatives by unbuckling its dorsolateral fold near the groin in hopes of looking 'edgy'.
