One of my goals this year is to participate in different photographic challenges…step outside my comfort zone. I Heart Faces is a site I have followed for quite some time but I have never participated in any of their challenges or contests….well, online anyway. The contest is “Smile”…and what better image to submit than the one that always makes me smile when I look at it. These little girls are the younger sisters of my oldest daughter’s dearest friend. While the older girls were off getting ready for their evening, these two little pixies sat and talked with me. They were extremely interested in my camera sitting close by….so I offered to take their photograph. The lighting isn’t optimal…but the shy smile of the bejeweled pixie versus the “take my photo” smile of her sister were so sweet…perhaps you can see why this image is one of my favorites and makes me smile.

Their voices sing when you are near,
whispering things you’ll never hear,
and leave a kiss upon your ear
marking you to show their fear
Their wings they shine in the light,
dancing colors strong and bright,
unseen to our so lowly human eyes,
but oh so beautiful in the night
they sing you to sleep, lull you closer
just enough to steal your breath,
to hear you words no longer spoken
they eat your eyes, till nothings left,
take your soul and keep it dear
mix with leaves,till potions clear,
they leave your bones,
just a sign
telling those you payed the price
your heart is there so that they know
pixies don't play with empty souls

This is my D&D Character, Kindleflare. She's a Pixie (kinda like Tinkerbell, but with kung fu and weapons). Her style of martial arts is Desert Wind so she's flavored as putting so much power into her attacks that her fists, weapons and feet spontaneously combust.
