Made from chunky natural alpaca in a wheat color, this hat is meant for a child-sized head. The brim was knit first, then stitches were picked up from selvedge stitches along one side and the had was worked in the round, seamlessly from there. The width of the brim was worked in stockinette, followed by a section of star-stitch, then again stockinette on the crown, decreased to a pixie point. Very soft, very cute. The stitch pattern used on the brim is also very dense, and makes it almost triple warm over the ears! Nice.
Pixie is helping me measure a snow drift by jamming the ruler deeper into the drift, then trying to run off with it.

Got the chance to check out one of my favorite bands from college, the Pixies. Show was at the Rave in Milwaukee (in the annoyingly awkward, Eagles Ballroom).
The feature of this tour was playing the classic album, Doolittle in its entirety. They also played a great encore where they blasted through most of Surfer Rosa as well (setlist here). In the shot above, they are playing Wave of Mutilation.
I appreciate bands who embrace new technology--the imagery playing on the screen behind them connected the creepy lyrics in a way that is much more appreciated live. They still have it--the show was superb.
