When I went in to my hairdresser, I showed her a picture of P!nk with hair like what I wanted. She stared and said "Oh my God, I was just thinking earlier, 'I wonder if I can get her to let me do a pixie cut?'" SIMPATICO!

Pixie em Jéssica Nuguin

"Pixie" by Llola Lane

Who ever heard of a fairy afraid of heights??? Well that was Pixie... afraid to soar high in the sky with the birds. Afraid to visit her friends in the giant tree tops. Afraid to go higher than a few feet from the ground. In fact... she got around mostly by walking. She didn't wander far from her home in an old tree stump, at the bottom of a hill.

As she sits on the edge she contemplates her next move. She thinks about her childhood and her mother and lets her mind wander back.

It wasn't her fault really that she was scared of heights. She's been terrified ever since she can remember. Her mother told her of a fall she had when she was very little and that is probably why she is scared. Her mother left her alone for a few short moments in her nest. And when she returned... Pixie was gone. Pixie had been carried away with a gust of wind, and her frail little wings couldn't lift her back to the comfort of her nest.

Pixie doesn't remember the wind that made her fall from her nest, but she does remember falling uncontrollably. Even now her stomach gets queasy as she remembers. She also recalls landing on a soft bed of algae at the edge of a riverbed and, being all wet. She's not sure why she survived the fall but she IS grateful to be alive.

She is brought back to reality by a little voice talking to her...

"Go ahead... you can do it," the voice said.

This was her first time flying in a long time. She'd made it up to the windowsill; now she needed to fly a little further to deliver her prize.

The sill is far from the ground. She doesn't look down. Her stomach is getting queasy again. She takes a deep breath and looks at the little girl lying in her bed just a few feet from the sill. She has black hair and doesn't have any covers on. She looks like an angel sleeping. Her feet move and she makes a little moan.

"Go ahead Pixie... it's time. Before she wakes!" The voice talks to her again. Pixie looks up and sees her mother standing on the sill next to her. "You can do it. You are grown now. It's time to earn those wings. Don't worry.... You won't fall. They CAN carry you. Try!"

Pixie stood up on the sill. She closed her eyes and let her wings flap. They slowly carried her up, a few inches off the sill. She opened her eyes... She was doing it!!! She had spent so much time on the ground that she didn't really try her wings much. They were stronger than she remembered. She flew to the bed and never looked down.

Over the bed she was confident that if she fell it would be a soft landing, so she let herself fly a little. She soared high up into the canopy and MADE herself look down. She twirled around. Her mother was still on the sill watching her. Mother urged her on to her duty, but Pixie was having too much fun. She swooped and glided all around the bed. She even managed to fly off the bed a few times but that didn't seem to scare her any more. Her stomach soothed and she didn't feel queasy any longer.

Mother was getting restless and was waving her onward frantically. She had played long enough. It was time to work. "Earn those wings" as mother said. She was not a little girl anymore. She was an adult and it was time to act like one.

Composing herself, Pixie made her way to the little girls’ pillow. She waved her wand over the pillow and the tooth appeared inside the wand. She then tucked a coin under the pillow and flew to the little girl's head. She blew her a kiss and fairy dust swirled into the air. The little girl stirred in her sleep and moaned as she sucked her thumb. Pixie smiled at a job well done and looking at the little girl, she knew she'd never be afraid of heights again.

Pixie loves having her ears gently pulled.

Before the show started, the girl in front of us (we were seated in the third row of the mezzanine) was very concerned about her line of sight and kept telling various people in front of her to sit down. Big fan, I thought. But then the Pixies come out and start playing some serious rock and roll (perhaps not quite \m/ grade music, but certainly close enough) and the line-of-sight police woman and her girlfriend hardly even twitch in their seats. They barely clapped between songs. It looked like they were cuddled up in front of the TV watching Masterpiece Theatre or something.

These types of rock concerts are pretty weird in some ways. People pay $50 a ticket to see a band they might never see live again and that's so much money and so final that they feel entitled (perhaps rightly so) to experience it as if they were in their living room. But experiences are messy, particularly when you're talking about seeing great rock music live. In some ways, if your ears aren't ringing, don't get beer spilled on you, don't come home with your clothes smelling like pot, and can't see the band the whole time, have you really done anything?

(Also, this could be my worst camera phone pic ever.)

I call them cannelloni dishes because that's what I make in them. All they say in the bottom is "12 oz" . I have since learned that they were officially marketed as Pixie Dishes.

i took odette out for photos and it made me realise how much i need to get this girl her wig asap. i've finally started developing her character more, so that she actually has some substance underneath her mysterious exterior, and i'm really loving her right now. i just wish her stock eyes didn't look so... dead, because i really like them, they're just too flat.

this is the first time i've photographed her in her new outfit. i bought that hugeass barbie fashion pack just after christmas specifically to get this dress and the pale pink one for berry. i really love their new outfits on them. i think i should get some silver black white and gray bracelets for odette maybe.

-also i need to get her some wings-

Dancing On My Own (Feat. GD TOP)

Haircut and Colour by Claudia

Cats no less liquid than their shadows

Offer no angles to the wind.

They slip, diminished, neat through loopholes

Less than themselves; will not be pinned

To rules or routes for journeys; counter

Attack with non-resistance; twist

Enticing(ly) through the curving fingers

And leave an angered empty fist.

They wait obsequious as darkness

Quick to retire, quick to return;

Admit no aim or ethics; flatter

With reservations; will not learn

To answer to their names; are seldom

Truly owned (omitted).

Cats no less liquid than their shadows

Offer no angles to the wind.

This is my character-based doll of Pixie from Monster Rancher, an Obitsu/Parabox Gretel on a DD2 body (an underrated hybrid choice imo! Although Obitsu WS doesn't match Volks vinyl NS as exactly as I had thought.) I really see the resemblance between Gretel and the later heads her sculptor would go on to create -- she's almost like a proto/honorary Elfdoll.

Still needs her horns...and maybe I should bob that wig.

Pixie Lott playing on the Main Stage at the Isle of Wight Festival 2011. It was pouring with rain the whole day, but she didn't let that put a downer on things.

Photo taken as a part of The Sutherland Shire's weekly Photo meet where we went in towards the city of Sydney and visited Newtown Cemetery where we met up wih our model, Pixie.

Thanks to Tony, who has much more experience with models than most of us do.

This is my very first time at taking model photo's and I was initially very hesitant, but thanks to Pixie for making our photography so easy, Pixie really knew how to use the camera lens to her benefit, this is only one image of some 600 I took that day and can honestly say there were very few throw aways.

Also there from our group were Alison, Carol, Tony, Stan and Justin, thanks guys for a great day. Check out some of the photo's we have posted here.

Pixie necklace is created form a combination of wooden beads and small silver tone bottle caps strung together to create this one of a kind piece. Also i have added a touch of cob web design made of of silver tone chains. This added touch was influenced by the hot heat we are experiencing in London at the moment. Of course this is the season for spiders and spiders comes cobweb. Especially this spider that has made a home in my study. I look at the web each time, and very much fascinated by it. So this is dedicated to my inspiration Mr Long legs

As usual, I can't make up my mind. Poor Pixie, I took off her mohair scalp (seen in pics below)... and tried on these two others that I was planning to put on future custom dolls. And I think I like these better....

D'oh!

And I always wanted a mohair weft scalp too... I guess I can save it for another doll later.
