Pour ce projet, le chorégraphe Mourad Merzouki de la Compagnie Käfig collabore avec Adrien Mondot et Claire Bardainne (en résidence à l’Hexagone de 2009 à 2011) et s’oriente vers les arts numériques. Mariant les prouesses physiques de la danse et les prouesses techniques, Pixel crée un subtil équilibre entre énergie et poésie, fiction et magie technologique.
« Pixel est né d’une première rencontre avec Adrien Mondot et Claire Bardainne et de la fascination que cela m’a procuré ; j’ai eu la sensation de ne plus savoir distinguer la réalité du monde virtuel et eu très vite l’envie de tester un nouveau rapprochement en exploitant ces nouvelles technologies avec et pour la danse. Comment le danseur évolue t-il dans un espace fait d’illusion, sur un plateau en trois dimensions, la vidéo pouvant tour à tour accompagner son mouvement tout comme l’entraver ? » nous révèle Mourad Merzouki.
Et c’est en s’appuyant sur la virtuosité et l’énergie du hip-hop, mêlées de poésie et de rêve, qu’il abordera cette nouvelle création entouré de dix danseurs.

Yea.. la primera tipo que hice y mi primer hacercamiento a este mundo gracias al maestro Jorge del Buen, cuando esta en al Ibero.
This scene, featuring Sully the Westie, was meticulously illustrated pixel by pixel in Photoshop. Sully has Thalassophobia (fear of the ocean) and Isolophobia (fear of being alone). I know the waves look like a raster image, but they are not. I added filters to make it look more like water crashing.

On your CRT monitor, the pixels are made up of red green and blue dots, packed close together. The magnifying lens I am using is actually the lens of an old hotshot camera.

The Nieuwjaarsduik at the beach of Hellevoetsluis, just like on many other locations during this Nieuwjaarsduik event. A growing number of athletic participants plunge into the cold Haringvliet waters at noon. The event is supported by Scouting, the rescue brigade, the mayor of the city and of course a lot of audience to encourage all the participants.

Nieuwjaarsduik - New Years Day
An anual event on New Year's Day where lots of people dive for a short refreshing dip collectively into the icy cold water at twelve o'çlock, most of them wearing Unox branded winter caps and gloves and other funny outfits. This New Year's dive is a bit simular to the Polar bear plunge.
