Parc de la Haute île

I’ve read that Felix’s Florentine Garden off Ala Moana Blvd. at Kewalo Basin was a popular restaurant in the 1940s but I’d never seen a photo of it before. it was replaced by Fisherman’s Wharf in 1952 which looks like it used the same building. Vintage but undated slide, around 1945 looking at the cars. Faded red-shifted color corrected using Pixelmator Pro.

Lollipops made in Pixelmator. I think the jpg makes the background darker though.

Quite impressed with Pixelmator photo on iPad, despite the importing part. Should I review it?

Ja, das ist noch nichts. Aber bin stolz, dass ich die Mondzeichnung überhaupt rein bekommen habe :-)

Yes, that's nothing. But I am proud that I got the moon drawing at all pure :-)

I redid this photo in pixelmator. enhanced only slightly. not as exaggerated as before. I deleted the previous one

A mean looking moth with a steely glare.

I have been taking a series of photographs of moths recently, and have been staggered to discover how many different species there are in Australia. Moths and butterflies make up the order of Lepidoptera. The general consensus appears to be that there are around 400 species of butterflies in Australia, but 10's of thousands of moth species. Many have not been formally identified and there is an ongoing debate over the classification of many species.

It is thus no great surprise (at east to me) that I have no idea what moth this is!

By the way, one may ask what is the difference between a moth and a butterfly. Butterflies have a bulb at the end of their antennae whilst moths have feathery antennae. There are other differences, but the antennae are the most obvious distinguishing feature.

A thin fog was present across the downtown area on this morning, providing some additional atmosphere for this photo. The light trails from car headlights had an appealing glow from the combination of fresh snow on the roads and the fog. The NightCap Pro iOS app was used to capture the light trails, the exposure time being approximately 2 minutes.
