Despite the war, Ukraine's grand opera house continues to operate in Kyiv. A poster at the building invites the audience to a performance of Giovanni Pergolesi's comic opera La serva padrona (The Maid Turned Mistress).

Ukraine continues to resist the full-scale invasion of absolute evil for the 445st day in a row.

I live very close to Wales and I love the mountains of Snowdonia in the northwest corner of the country. I also love that Midjourney can take me and plonk me on top of one of those Welsh mountains. It really looks like I'm there, but believe me, this picture was completely created within my computer!

Australian authorities have come up with a drastic plan to get rid of stray cats. This includes the deployment of killer robots whose objective is to track down and eliminate felines, considered invasive and harmful to endemic fauna.

Yes, you read correctly…

Amounting to 7.6 million Australian dollars, or 4.6 million euros, the plan aims to eradicate feral cats (domestic cats returned to the wild) within 5 years in the State of 'Western Australia.

After years of testing, federal authorities finally approved the deployment of Felixer. Marketed by local company Thylation, this killer robot identifies cats based on their silhouette and gait. He then sends a toxic gel, sodium fluoroacetate or poison 1080, on the animal. The poison is then ingested by it during its toilet, resulting in its death.

Financially, the damage caused by feral cats on the country's wildlife amounts to nearly 300 million Australian dollars, or 181 million euros.

Today, I would like to introduce you to a New Zealand photographer, Holly Spring, who is a great artist, if I may say so !

Holly recently won the NZIPP/Epson Iris Portrait Creative of the Year 2014 with her photos of her daughter. !

Holly's daughter is her number one muse and she's a very special little girl !

I love when our kids push us to make a remarkable work of art and Holly is proof that motherly love has no limits...

I am convinced that dads also have tricks up their sleeves 😉

Good for you artists :D

So with Midjourney if you want to try and improve on a generated picture you can either create a 'variation' which will produce minor changes to the picture, or you can completely re-run the original prompt. That's what I've done here and with the next picture I'll post. They're re-runs of the first 'Julie' picture I posted.

This was taken at dusk, with light levels that really pushed my iPhone to the limit. I was in the Hirshhorn’s sunken sculpture garden and snapped this at street level. It didn’t come out well, but I liked the scene enough to hang on to it.

Apps: iColorama, Pixelmator, Hipstamatic, Snapseed, Photoshop (frame). The streaking and image repeats are from iColorama.

Apps: Photoshop Express, Snapseed, Pixelmator

Backstory:

This photo was taken during a business trip to Prague. After a day spent in dark meeting rooms, my colleagues and I decided to venture out for a walk across the Charles Bridge (on the left). It was late in the day during early spring, and the sky was overcast and gray. A friend who had visited Prague previously suggested this location - a small plaza overlooking the Vltava River just before the bridge - as a great place to take a photo, and I had this in mind as we approached the bridge and snapped this with my iPhone 7.

The photo itself was quite flat in colors. I used the Autumn filter in Photoshop Express to bring out some darkness in the sky over the river, and then dehazed it a bit and adjusted the colors and brightness. I used Snapseed to further fine tune and frame the image, and Pixelmator to remove blemishes and make a selective edit of the building in the center foreground since it was a bit too dark.

Crazy Tuesday Theme: Round in Vertical Photo

******************************PdF***********************°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°*******

The world is truly turning upside down !!!

Children had to hunt and kill cats to win the top prize in a competition in New Zealand. It was finally canceled after causing an outcry, a decision welcomed on Wednesday by a New Zealand animal welfare body.

This "specific category" was created by the organizers of an annual wild boar and deer hunting contest. It was open to children under 14 years old. To win the top prize – a sum of 250 New Zealand dollars (141 euros) – the children had to hunt feral cats, also called feral cats, domestic cats returned to the wild.

N.B: Free-roaming cats are a scourge in New Zealand where they are responsible for the decline in populations of birds, bats, lizards, mice and other insects, according to the New Zealand Ministry of Conservation, responsible for the preservation of historical and natural heritage of the country…

Apps: I used Photoshop Express to remove some haze, which gave more definition to the sky. Then overlaid that sky onto the original in Pixelmator. I used Lightroom to remove some noise, and finished with a frame in PhotoToaster.
