Edited with Pixelmator Photo. This was the first photo I tried it on. It’s early days, but so far I like the software. The colour tweaking controls are great and the presets seem good.

***********************************************************************************

When asked how much they spent on new equipment last year, a gear-obsessed photographer who aims to overcome Gear Acquisition Syndrome, better known as G.A.S., checks their lengthy bank statements.

“Hmm, looks like about $10,000. No, wait, $12,000.” !!!

And did they use the new equipment to take better photos ?

Sucking air in through their teeth, the photographer finally replies, “Well, not exactly. I didn’t really need an f/1.4 lens since I mostly shot at f/2 anyway. And I don’t really use the fastest shooting speeds on my new professional camera or, frankly, do anything differently with it than I did on my old DSLR.”

“But I think all the new gear does make me a better photographer. People think I’m a pro when I’m out with all my new stuff. I feel powerful and cool. Still, though, this year, I think I’d like to spend less money on new gear and focus on getting better with the equipment I’ve already got,” they explain.

The photographer was last seen browsing Adorama, reading the latest camera rumors, and checking their bank account, muttering, “I’ve got enough for that.”🤔

As part of my ongoing "2" series, this whimsical piece took me on a journey quite different than I'd planned. I'm a Wizard of Oz freak, and was originally going toward a sort of dark piece on the ruby slippers, but as I began layering and exploring I was fighting with the idea of being so dark and decided I wanted the piece to be more fun. After all, my 2 series is all about optimism.

As one walks into Mosaic Canyon, the canyon narrows sometimes barely allowing for people in opposite directions to get by. Here it opened it into what felt like a enormous amphitheater to look around and take in the rock formations. One can easily see the impact that water flowing down the mountainside has made over the ages of time, especially in this more open area.

I’ve been meaning to get a proper photo of this tree again for months; a newly acquired sigma 100-400mm lens provided just the excuse to get out and try :)

“Artificial intelligence is a technological revolution that presents great opportunities that should act as a co-pilot to extend the capabilities of our employees and further amplify our creativity.

Because technology will either make us more human or it won’t.”

What is striking about the few images released by Mango is just how realistic they are !

The AI images look like real photos shot in the Medina of Marrakech, Morocco; there is almost nothing that gives them away as synthetic.

Viewers could easily glance at the image and not know that it is AI-generated …
