NHN D8 loads up at the sand pit in Ossipee, New Hampshire before departing for the Pan Am interchange at Dover. The New Hampshire Northcoast primarily shuttles sand between Ossipee Aggregates and Boston Sand and Gravel. A Pan Am crew brings the train down to Boston and back overnight.

This is not the best milkyway picture ever taken but it was nice to stop for few minutes and enjoy little moment of silence. Nights are getting close, it was -3 when I left, this is why my hands were so cold...

ST RUPO approaches Blue Rock Road passing the site of Libby's Pit, a former sand and gravel pit served by the Maine Central. A scrap metal recovery operation at the pit that was active on the site into the mid-1980s resulted in the EPA declaring it a Superfund site in 2012.
