This pipe in the side wall of a house is probably an overflow from a downstairs toilet. The wall is directly on the pavement so the cage serves to protect it – with good cause as one can see.

In this series, I had a fascination with symbolism and meaning behind our everyday hand gestures. I used the projector as my main light source to really tie the project together.
The church houses a large pipe organ by the German organ builder Johannes Klais of Bonn. It has mechanical action, four manuals and pedal, 102 ranks, 72 stops and 5275 pipes. It is 15 metres tall and weighs 25 tons. Its construction was completed in 1992.

Carved stone pipe bowls from various tribes, circa 1830 - 1890.
According to Sioux tribal tradition, White Buffalo Calf Woman brought the sacred pipe to the people, The pipe s not just an object, but is considered sacred among Native American tribes. The pipes were kept in pipe bags that were decorated with beads and porcupine quills. After the bowl and stem were connected, the pipe was filled with tobacco -- usually the inner bark of the red willow. Prayers and good thoughts were sent through the smoke from the pipe.
