Back Story ................
Alright as promised the Drain Pipe Puppies.
Picked up 4 kilos of chopped chicken at the morning market. Ran home and started in cooking, added a bunch of stuff like rice and some left over vegetables.
Once this was completed a special food bag was made up. Grabbed the camera, mounted the scooter and off I go.
Spotted the mother standing just outside of the drainpipe opening with six hungry puppies hanging from her tits.
Parked across the road and started talking to her. Easy to see she is stressed out and very nervous.
Took my time getting everything ready while still talking.
Soon as I started across the road she dove back into the drainpipe, dragging all six puppies with her.
The second I sat down in front of the opening a couple curious puppies came right out to see what is going on.
Didn't take long and all six puppies came out and started gobbling up the warm fresh cooked food.
From where I was sitting I could see their Moms front paws and part of her legs inside the drain pipe.
Pretty soon her need for food overtook her fear of strangers and her head appeared.
While still talking I slowly reached out and lightly touched her nose.
She flinched as if preparing to be beaten.
One second later she licked my hand then just like her puppies started gobbling the food.
Obviously she will see more of me but lets get this straight right from the start.
This is a very dangerous bend in the road.
Vehicles fly past here a breakneck speed.
If I moved them she would just move them back because in her eyes this is a safe place .
We'll just take this one day at a time .. ;-)

This is a shot of the Gargoyle of the pipe smoking dog on the northern side of Exeter Cathedral.
Many years ago I used to see an old invalid scooter with the dog on the back smoking a pipe in Exeter. The owner used to visit McGahey's in the High Street for his tobacco.
The gargoyle was made by the former head stonemason Peter Dare. Other notes suggest the Dog was called Butch and the owner used to frequent a Pub in Exmouth. If anyone can correct or add information please leave a comment.
Peter Dare was an apprentice stonemason at the Beer Quarry, before working on the Cathedral and now has been in Queensland for over 20 years.
The pipe organ of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels was commissioned from Dobson Pipe Organ Builders, Ltd., of Lake City, Iowa. According to one authority, it is the 89th largest pipe organ in North America and the 143rd largest in the world. The massive organ, with one hundred and five stops and a total of six thousand nineteen pipes, includes vintage pipes from the organ in the Cathedral of St. Vibiana.

An irrigation line broke at a tee fitting and blew an amazing amount of water out but that saved me some digging since it blew out like a volcano crater. I put it back together with the fittings a bit higher since I can't work too deep into a hole without my head going even more numb than normal. It ain't pretty but glue is cheap and it doesn't leak now and Mr. Shovel hides all the evidence.
We took the boys to a local dairy farm yesterday - one that still has local deliveries of milk, ice cream, and yogurt. You can watch them milk and feed the cows, and there's a large, corrugated drainage tube propped up on a stack of hay bales. The bales are arranged so that adventuresome 3 and 4 year-olds can climb them to slide down the tube. And of course, anything that adventuresome 3 and 4 year-olds do will be immediately attempted by their adventuresome 18 month-old brothers.
As far as slides go, this one is pretty slow, which allows for a wide range of facial expressions as the rider thub-thub-thub-thub-thub-thub-thub-thub-thub-thub-thubs his way down the ridged interior.
Originally, this shot was nothing but a silhouette with some dim rings around it. I saved it as much as technology and my current photoshop prowess would allow, which explains the graininess in Sam's noisy face and form, which I've decided to desaturate, wrap up in texture, and present here as a choice of style.

I was on the ferry from Plymouth to Santander and noticed there were a few pipe smokers on board. I asked this chap if I could take his photo as I liked his long pipe. He told me he as from Hull and they all have long ones in Hull.

Confession: I am horrifically shy about asking people to take their photograph. I worked up the courage to ask this guy, he assented and smiled, but in my nerves, I shot the photo too fast and then was too anxious to ask him for one more.
The result is that I love the pose but his face is not ready. So sad...
this pipe is about 22'' long, and is lacquered wood- the mount shows chinese mythical figure Liu Hai and his 3-legged toad [meant to bring wealth to the owner] this pipe has seen very heavy use in the past, and was almost certainly brought to England in the last century [the pipe ''bowl'' is not shown, but fits onto the circular opening. The process combines the advantages of microtunnelling and horizontal drilling technology (HDD). In just one work step, a prefabricated pipe can be installed without a trench and the required borehole can be created at the same time. This ensures that pipelines with lengths of over 1,500 meters can be laid quickly and very economically.
A clever combination of two technologies
The soil is excavated from the starting pit with a liquid-assisted Herrenknecht microtunnelling machine (AVN). It transports the spoil over a conveyor circuit within the prefabricated pipeline to a separation plant. The pipeline, which is laid out on roller blocks above ground and welded to the machine, is pushed into the borehole created at the same time as drilling. A pipe thruster provides the necessary propulsive power. It presses the microtunnelling machine together with the pipeline with a thrust of up to 750 tons in strokes of 5 meters. The force is transmitted to the pipeline via the clamping unit of the pipe thruster and via this to the drill head of the machine. During the advance, the face can be driven using fluid-supported tunneling technology even with heterogeneous, permeable soils are permanently and reliably controlled. Gradients and slopes as well as precise cornering in the course of the route can be carried out with control systems (UNS).
